Kiss Me! How to Raise Your Child With Love (book)

Anyone read this? https://www.amazon.com/Kiss-Me-Raise-Your-Child/dp/1780660103

I impulse bought it, and I already love this guy after reading about 5 pages on sleep. Apparently, it's biologically normal for my dear boy to have peaked at sleeping at 3 months. It's so bizarrely reassuring to read a book written by a pedi that says "yeah, that's what babies are supposed to do".

It doesn't make me less tired... but at least it makes me feel more normal.

  • I don't buy these type of books I'm too cheap.  Can yo give me an idea what it is about or what it's like.

  • "Kiss Me! is a book written in defence of children. In response to the many so-called expert theories that advocate the use of obsessive routines and excessive discipline, Dr. Carlos Gonz?lez renowned paediatrician and author of My Child Won't Eat! advocates raising children based on love, respect and freedom. Gonz?lez believes that children are good, selfless, generous, honest, sociable and understanding and deserve all the love we can give them. Kiss me! How to raise your children with love offers a guide to ethical parenting. Chapters include:
    • Why children are the way they are
    • Your child is a good person
    • A few myths regarding sleep
    • Rewards and punishment
    • Quality time"

I don't generally buy books, but the library didn't have it and I plan to donate it to my local La Leche's library when I've read it. It jives well with their philosophy.

I think I need this book. My 3 year old is so kind and smart  but has been so difficult to deal with lately. I get caught up in the behavior and lose focus on the little person inside.

But holy hellll that line about sleep scares the crap out of me. My 9 week old better figure out this sleep stuff soon. Yikes!

  • I just read the table of contents... but I got confused under the "theories I do not share" section - does he or does he not support breastfeeding at night and co-sleeping?

Oh, he supports both breatfeeding at night and co-sleeping.

He just has a whole section where he explains why other "experts" are full of crap.
