bottles on long flight

So I have been saving up all the helpful tips on international travel with baby twins for the last several months, anticipating our upcoming trip from Asia to USA with great excitement (right....). So I think I've got a handle on most stuff, but here's something that I hadn't seen discussed:

How many bottles did you take on your long flight (we FF), and did you wash them on the plane? If not, what did you do with them after they were used? If yes, how? I have been reading elsewhere that you shouldn't wash the bottles on the plane because the tap water isn't safe.

Our girls usually take 5 bottles each per day. Our flight will be 15hrs. Bottles take up so much space in the diaper bag- it just didn't occur to me that I might have to lug around so many bottles in my carryon!

TIA for your help :)

Re: bottles on long flight

  • I don't have experience with it, but I would agree that you shouldn't wash them on the plane (it usually says the water in the bathroom isn't potable).I would probably look for some disposable bottles, maybe one time use ones, or the ones that come pre filled with formula? At least then you aren't lugging the empties around. Long shot but maybe you can also google and find some kind of colapsable ones? Or aren't there some by platex where only the bag gets dirty?

I did a long international flight with my LO, and I think I had all the bottles filled with water and formula pre-measured.I know we rinsed the bottles after they were done. But I am almost positive that we did not reuse the same bottle twice during the flight.

It is a lot to carry but I have not found a way around it.Good luck
