it only seems to happen when i lay down on my back to go to sleep. i get this HORRIBLE, hard to explain, burning sensation under my breasts and in my sides to my back. i have found that laying on my side really helps. anyone know what this is?
Could it be that you've strained your intercostal muscles (the muscles between your ribs)? Does it get worse when you take a deep breath?
I've pulled them before and laying on my back was terrible, and it felt like a burning sensation sometimes. I've been scared that they will act up again because your rib cage expands when pregnant.

I'm not sure if I have the same thing you're talking about, but the past day or two, my upper middle back has felt like it is on FIRE... but it hasn't been heartburn, it's felt muscular, because it eased up when I had a heating pad on it.
Maybe a trip to the chiropractor?

A chiro did fix my rib muscle issues pretty quickly, so I'd say it's worth a shot!
