words lo is saying right now?

i don't know why, but for some reason i'm being paranoid that ds should be saying more than he is.

currently, he is saying mamma, dad, yo gabba gabba (yep! ;0) ) he is mumbling sounds like "dee dee dee" and acting like he is having a conversation, but he isn't really saying any other words.

am i overreacting about this right now? i see/read about so many others saying words by this point so i'm wondering if i should be concerned about this.

Mama and dada, but I don't count those since she has been making those sounds forever. She does say dog and cat pretty regularly and will repeat anything if you say it enough times. I'm also enjoying watching her non-verbal communication expand with nodding and shaking her head and pointing at things she wants or wants you to explain to her

"Oh" for No (she'll also shake her head no), "Yeah" for Yes, "Pu-Pu" for Puppy, "Keh" for Kitty, baby, bubble, up...there may be a few more I'm not remembering. She also knows what I mean when I say simple commands like "no" or "sit down". She jibber jabbers a lot so she's "talking", I just don't quite understand everything she is saying. We are learning our body parts too, she can point to her head and feet, we are still working on her belly.

Ds is saying Mama, dada, bup (up), kee kee (kitty), cop cop (quack quack), whatthat (what's that). He's just started pointing to his nose, foot, and sippy if you ask him to. He really just started anything other than mama and dada. Most of the time though he just rambles on and on all day long but you can't understand anything. I wouldn't be worried at all

I feel the same way! His words right now are dada, uh oh, and hi. He also makes a question type sound when he is trying to ask you to pick him up and share something. It is cute, but IDK. I feel like he should be saying more...

My DD is much like yours she says mama and a few other variations I think like I hear mom every once in a while and mum she says dada and is always jabbering away with stuff I dont understand. I think she says our cats name, Pat and it sounds like she is saying my name but Im not sure because she doesnt hear it very much. But I do worry too that she should be saying more words.

hmmm, sounds like a lot of words thanks ladies!

he can understand when i ask him to get something and bring it over, but still not even doing non-verbal communication yet. who knows. it sounds he is on the right track, but just going at his own pace i guess. i just need to be patient

"Uh-oh" incessantly, "mama" when he wants something , "dada" and "papa" interchangeably, "up," "dog" a handful of times, "mum-mum," and last night's addition to the list: "duck." Not long, but like pps, he is babbling up a storm. I just have no idea what he's saying.

He does have pretty good receptive language. He can point to things when I ask: tongue, mama's nose (but not his own), etc. He follows commands pretty well. I was especially impressed when he started playing Rocking Chair Rodeo (standing on the pint-sized rocking chair a 90 year-old family friend made, hanging onto the back with one hand and waving the other in the air, then rocking), and he quickly learned to sit down when I told him that we "sit on our bottoms."

Her "D" words are her favorite: Dada, Dog, and Daw when pointing to her best buddy (Dante) at day care.

She also says Mama, Ball, and Yeah. She sometimes says "dat" and "iss" for "that" and "this" when pointing to things I want her to identify, but usually she just points and grunts lol.

Lots of babbling multi-syllable "words" and expressive inflection while she "talks". I figure this has to count for something, right?

Oh, and like some of the others, she's understanding a lot more, like "Bring me a book". Plus, she can point to her head, belly, and feet for me.

DD is saying about 5 words right now. She has really picked up on sign language tho.

We have a bit of a precocious talker, but it was expected since I was the same. He is also very clear and pronounces well. He says mum, dad/daddy, bob (the cat- all cats and most furry animals are bob) papa, yes, hot, up, what is that/this, who is that/this, hat, bird, hi, oh yeah, ball, Jeff, boobies (my brother and his gf taught him that one)

He understands almost everything we tell him and will answer yes or shake his head no when given options. He can find eyes, ears, mouth, nose, belly button, boobies haha and lately is obsessed with eyelashes and eyebrows. It's kinda terrifying to trust that teeny chubby finger coming towards your eye but he tries to be gentle and wants to touch them so bad

She only says words when I say them to her first. Example. She can say up when I say it. But won't come over and say up to be picked up. She just yells.

She listens to what I say. Like, "lets eat lunch" and she'll walk to the kitchen or high chair. and "bye bye" gets her to run to the door. She'll also shake her head yes or no if I ask her to do it, but not to actually answer a question.

So lots of mimicing but not actually communicating with me. I'm not sure if she's behind or just going on her own pace.

At their 15 month appointment, we were asked if they can say 3-6 words.

Both can say most of these words - up, out, down, ear, eye, toe, baby, mama, dada, Keh-Keh (cookie), buh-buh (butterfly), bah (bath), & Cassie (our dog). There are a few others, but I can't think of them right now.

Mama, Dada, Gra-PA (Grampa), Nana, Cat, Up, A du (all done), Cup, Ball, Uh-oh, I got, and Pone (Phone).

Other than that, he's a nonstop chatter box. We just can't understand him

Please try not to stress. DS was only saying dada at this point and even at 18 months only had maybe 10 words (and most of them were animal sounds). I was completely convinced that there was something wrong even though the pedi and my SIL who's a pediatric speech therapist told me he was totally fine. A month before he turned 2 he literally went from maybe 20 random words to speaking 3-4 word sentences.

Thank you! It's so hard not to stress, but I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. I'm feeling better since he points or retrieves stuff I ask him or will say about 3-4 words at this point. I just have to remember all babies are different and I can't beat myself up over it. Thanks for the reassurance

Mama, for milk and for me. Dada, for dad. Doggie for any animal that sort of resembles our dog...squirrels, deer and horses are all doggie.

Ha! DD is basically the same - 'mama' seems to mean mostly milk/bf'ing. And she is very good at dada and dah for dog. DH pointed out that she is now also saying 'mo-mo' for more as of either yesterday or today.

My oldest hardly said any thing at this age, my middle DD was a little more talkative with words. Olivia says a lot of words and the Pedi said she is advanced in her talking skills.
