Cloth Diapering

Yeast cream and cloth?

We just got back from LO's check up and the Dr noticed her diaper area was a little red and said she had a little bit of yeast. She prescribed a cream to clear it up.

Am I safe to assume this cream won't be cloth diaper safe? I have disposable liners, they're very thin though. Will those be sufficient or should we do disposables until she's cleared up?

Anyone dealt with this?

Thanks

Re: Yeast cream and cloth?

  • There are quite a few of us that have dealt with yeast. Yes you will need to use a liner when using the yeast cream on your LO. The disposable liner should be fine.

You will also need to treat the diapers to kill the yeast. Most of us have found that a hot wash, with 1/4-1/3 cup chlorine bleach with 15 drops of tea tree oil and/or grapefruit seed extract kills the yeast and the yeast spores preventing a reinfection.
