Hello Ladies,
I know I haven't been on in months, but I got too stressed being on the board. I am realizing though that this is the only place that understands what I'm going through every time a friend announces they are pregnant on facebook. My husband tries but he is a man and he can't just fix it.
Anyway, My question is for anyone with Hasimoto's and on clomid. Finally figured out I had a LP defect. Which I had been saying for months. I was just put on clomid (no monitoring, I know that isn't right but I am moving and I don't want to switch OBs again so I'm just going to roll with it). I was wondering when to take the clomid. Can it be taken with synthroid? I take my synthroid at night because I have to take my prenatal in the AM. The prenatal used to wake me up in the middle of the night with stomach cramps. I am guessing it was an empty stomach thing. Also has anyone's period gotten heavier once you started taking clomid? Mine got really heavy today. Just wondering other ladies experience with it.
Re: Clomid and Synthroid
You are the one who admitted to knowing the consquences but still not getting monitored. You should be prepared for the reaction to that and not get defensive over it. I don't think she's jumping to any conclusion. And she certainly didn't call you an idiot or even imply that you are an idiot.

What you have is impatience. You know better, yet you're putting your health and fertility at risk.

I think it's crazy that you admit that you know you aren't taking the meds as prescribed but are still doing. No one called you an idiot. They just called you on doing something that's not very smart.
I take synthroid and I know you have to wait at least 4 hours before taking other meds because it can cause problems. Never thought about taking it at night though. I was always told you had to take it in the morning 30 min to an hour before you eat.

I take synthroid, well actually levoxyl, and other meds at the same time and there is no problem. It just depends on what it is and if it has iron in it. I have taken Clomid with it as well and had no problems. If you can't get someone at your Dr.'s office to answer your question talk to your pharmacist. Sometimes I think they are better at looking for possible interaction problems than my dr. is.
Yeah no one called you an idiot. However, you are ignoring the reasons to get monitored because you don't want to wait any longer. As PP said, it can hurt you more than it can help you.

Putting the risk of cysts and multiples aside I'll tell you that for me it was a complete waste of time. Before I knew any better I saw my OB/GYN and he put me on 50mg of Clomid and told me to have sex days 7-14 (or something stupid like that) and then had me go in for CD21 b/w. So we did all that and my CD21 b/w showed that I didn't ovulate. (And I can't believe a freakin' medical professional thinks every woman ovulates on CD14). They gave me provera and put me on 100mg of Clomid and had me do the same things. Again, didn't ovulate. Then I learned from women on 3T that you need to be monitored and I started seeing an RE.
Luckily I didn't end up with any cysts or other complications. With my RE I did a monitored cycle of 150mg of Clomid and barely responded at all. I wasted 2 months with my dumbazz OB (who I no longer see for any reason) and it pisses me off that these OB's have no clue what they are doing. My advice is to wait until you can be monitored even though you don't want to. You could end up wasting time and money and/or end up with serious health complications.

This. I take synthroid as well, and you are supposed to take it in the morning.
FFS! Just because you don't have a history of cysts doesn't mean that they won't happen. CD 21 b/w is useless. It needs to be 7dpo and the only way to accurately pinpoint O is with proper monitoring.
You're telling us that you have an appointment scheduled with a RE in September and you're too effing impatient to wait for that appointment before moving forward with treatment?!? If you're not an idiot for refusing to wait for your RE, then you obviously took an extra dose of stupid this morning. Grow up and accept the fact that instant gratification rarely happens and this is something you need to wait for.

You should wait till September. I can't believe it takes that long to get into an RE, makes me feel lucky with where I'm going. I called tonight and have an appt. on the 25th. Is there another place you can check to see if you can get in earlier/
My OBGYN put me on clomid 50mg, then 100mg, and now 150mg. I didn't know about the monitoring until a few days ago. None of my friends or anyone ever had trouble getting pregnant. All I had was the bloodwork on CD21 and it always came back as a No. Today I found out this one was apparently a yes, and that made no sense to me since it was lower than May. So I asked, they said I ovulated in MAy too, but told me I didn't back then and upped it. So now I'm pissed and confused and done with them. So, now I'm going to an RE and hoping I'm not completely screwed now.
Trust me, you should just wait.
I was thinking that as well. I don't know of anyone who takes it in the evenings. I thought you HAD to take it in the morning.

As far as I've been informed, synthroid MUST be taken in the morning, approx an hour before you eat. You definitely need to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist before starting treatment, an OB is not equipped to deal with thyroid and fertility issues.
I always thought I had to take my Synthroid in the morning as well. Your statement made me look into it further. Not saying this is a reputable source, but it is interesting...

Does your endo realize you are taking it at night though? I only put it out there because if you are absorbing more taking it at night, I wonder if your dosage would need to be adjusted. You wouldn't want your dosage to be too high TTC.
