Purchase the crib? 

I'm almost 16 weeks, and I found a great deal for a crib with free mattress online. It's what I was looking for and we like it a lot. So I ordered it.

We won't assemble it now of course, but has anyone else made a big purchase this early?

If it is a great deal go ahead and do it. At 15 weeks I found an amazing deal on an Eddie Bauer travel system with car seat and stroller and a matching diaper bag and I bought it ASAP because I knew I wouldn't find something as nice this cheap again (Sears was going out of business).

I'm 13 weeks and my dad plans on buying us a crib next month so it'll be around the same time as you. I say if it's on sale and you love it, go for it! Save money where you can!

We purchased our crib second hand from friends, it was exactly the one we wanted that was $350 in the store and were able to purchase from them for $50! I was only 6 weeks when we purchased it but knew it was too good of a deal to pass up!

I found our travel system for DS at 14 weeks really cheap and went ahead and purchased it. I think if you find a deal, go for it!

Hey it's perfectly fine to buy a crib early especially when it's a good deal.

We have had our crib in the box (baby room isnt ready) for two months! I'm 18 weeks now! GO for the good deal!

Glad you ordered it already! Great deal. We got our DS Crib off walmart.com around 20ish weeks(Delta convertible) and we love it!

Nothing wrong with buying the essentials a little early. At least you won't be scrambling to get things done come week 36.

Ours will be here Friday.  We wanted to get it early to make sure all parts are there and pieces aren't damaged.  We also want to set it up so we can figure out how we're gonna fit it into my SS's room.

I'm almost 19w along and we are going tonight because the crib and dresser we love are on sale. I don't think it's too early especially when it's on sale. Good luck!

If it's really a great deal and you don't think it'll go on sale again - then I say go for it! Got to save money when you can, right?

We bought our nursery furniture Memorial Day weekend at Pottery Barn Kids' big sale.  I was 14 weeks, I believe.  Our furniture is assembled and set up already :-)

The only reason we haven't started buying things is because we're moving at the end of next month. After that we'll start buying all the bigger stuff. It's easier to spread the spending out, if you can. I can't wait to get the nursery set up. It;s exciting and it means less to worry about later.
Also, I like this one better than the one we're thinking about getting. They're very similar though. Mine, also from Walmart but in Canada.. will be $100 more than that plus the mattress! I'd go for it. I think you'll be getting a really good deal!
