GD or Glucose intolerant? ....What do you eat?

I'm trying to be better about my diet since my 3hr test came back that I'm glucose intolerant. I just never know what to eat. Veggies (which I love normally) have grossed me out most of my pregnancy. I can do corn, potatoes and carrots. Anything green is not happening. My biggest problem is finding food to eat for lunch and dinner. Nothing ever sounds good. Help me out, what are you ladies eating? :)

  • You can still eat carbs, you just have to limit the amounts. I have GD, and I was referred to a dietician to set up a specific diet to follow with specific amounts of carbs for snacks and meals. It also helps to pair protein with carbs. I would suggest meeting with a dietician to set up a diet specific for your needs. Good luck!

  • Try looking up paleo/primal recipes, most of those should fit the dietary guidelines for being glucose intolerant.

  • I have to actually eat MORE carbs than I naturally would, unless I was eating pasta or something. People are usually surprised at how much they actually need to eat with GD--it's not a "lettuce and celery only" diet. I should aim for 60 carbs for lunch and dinner. Usually I am in the 40s because that's simply what my (regular, non-diet) frozen dinners provide.

You just named three veggies that you should limit/avoid.  Definitely don't eat potatoes if you are GI.  Corn and carrots have a lot of starch/sugars in them.

You can eat meats, cheeses and low starch veggies.
