I went to my Dr. a few weeks ago and she never mentioned anything specific to do before my a/s tomorrow. I've done research and heard:
-drink lots of water
-don't drink lots of water
-have some caffeine to get the baby moving
-but not too much caffeine!
Any advice is greatly appreciated. ![]()
Re: A/S tomorrow. Questions?
My dr's office told me exactly this, and said to make sure I only drink 16 oz. of water. They said overfilling my bladder will actually make things more complicated. I have heard the caffeine thing, but not from my dr.
I wasn't certain what I needed to do for my confirmation U/S (haven't made it to the A/S yet), so I just called and asked about water vs no water, etc. They were happy to answer my questions.
I have heard that too much caffeine/sugar can make the baby move too much, so the techs have trouble getting the correct measurements.
I was just supposed to drink one liter of water an hour before going to the u/s and no empting your bladder.
That's it, I've never heard anything about caffeine, I'd just stick to the water.
I personally wouldn't drink water before hand. The baby's big enough now for them to see what they need to without you having your bladder full. The a/s can take as long as an hour and you'd be miserable laying there that long with someone pushing on your tummy when you feel like you're about to burst!
GL at your u/s!
