Fluid in the ear?

K had numerous ear infections and terrible reactions to antibiotics.  He had tubes placed at age 2 which solved the issue, but he still has fluid in one ear. It's probably been there for a year at least. The pedi. keeps saying to watch it. Why won't they just drain it? Would he need another set of tubes? I know he is not hearing 100%, but even the ENT said to just watch and wait.

  • He complained of pain last week, so we brought him in, but no infection. Not sure if the pain was due to allergies. We brought him to the ENT in January due to him testing poorly on the pedi. hearing test, but again fluid related, so nothing was done. I'm sure there is a reason for the wait and see approach.
