Friday- ran 2 miles- My legs were cramping after the first mile, so I stretched out some more, ran a half mile, stretched AGAIN, and a half mile later they were cramping AGAIN, so I called it quits that day!
Saturday - "ran" a 5k with my kids!
Sunday- day of rest
Monday- ran 3 miles
Tuesday- I didn't do anything The extra sleep was nice, but I always regret not working out later!
Wednesday- I just got home from a 3 mile run.
My Question: What do you ladies do when your calves are cramping part of the way through your run? Run through it? Slow down? Stop and stretch then go again?
haven't really been keeping good day to day records.
i know i ran 4 miles on wed and sund.
lifted on sunday
3 mile hike with the dog on saturday
yoga on thursday
dog walks the rest of the time.
i definitely haven't been doing what i "thought" i would do during my pregnancy. still feeling great, i just feel so pressed for time.
@crossingfingers, especially if i am running outside, i will routinely stop to take a break. i don't have calf cramp issues, but usually it's to get a water in the heat. on wednesdays i still go to my tri teams track workouts. i'll run a mile, stretch and chat, run another 2, stop to get a drink, run another mile.
remember, you're not going to be building any fitness right now. you won't benefit from pushing through a cramp to get in a set workout. if you have a cramp, i'd stop and stretch it. this is the time to be kind to yourself, not to run through discomfort. my 2 cents.

I just want to applaud you ladies for running still and that much. I can't imagine doing that, granted I wasn't a runner before, but still running at this stage yikes, you go girls!
I'll just stick to my daily mile walks with my dog
I actually came down with a horrible virus last week (norovirus, specifically) and was pretty ill for 3 days. I wasn't 100% myself until day 5. That being said - NO work outs this past week
Last night I finally got in a brisk 25 minute hilly walk, it felt great! I plan on doing it again after work today.
As far as the cramping goes I haven't really had many in my legs but I do get them here and there in my belly. I have to just really slow down and take a few deep breaths and they normally go away

Definitely something to remember! I'm a huge wimp, so on the rare occasion that I do get a cramp, I definitely stop to stretch it- I'm REALLY not big into pushing myself!
I understand the feeling of being pressed for time! Between teaching at vacation bible school, swim team, tball, summer reading program, and tutoring, I feel like the days are running together right now! Add to that getting ready to move and I'm not surprised I still sleep like a baby every night

Hey Labor Buddy
My doctor asked if I was wearing some kind of maternity support belt or anything- I haven't had any belly cramping, but are you using one?
@crossingfingers, i have a question for you!!! since you seem to be both a good athlete and an experienced mom. this is my first child. prior to getting pregnant i was an avid athlete with a pretty signficant training volume (20+hours/week of workouts).
i'm due 8/21. there is a half marathon i'd like to do on 10/21. is that being too aggressive? i have no goals for the time. if i have to run/walk it, i will. i'm still totally comfortable running now. usual run distances are 4 miles, but that is only because i don't really see the point in running over that distance. i don't feel like i'm exhausted at all at the end. i feel like my fitness will rebound pretty quickly. i don't know anything about the recovery time that i'm looking at, though, since this is my first.
race registeration is $75 before aug 1. i guess if i deliver way late or have to have a c section, the outlook will probably be different. BUT, if i have a normal delivery at or around my due date, is that half realistic?
thanks for your input!!

I feel like my longest recovery was with my first, but I felt back to normal at around 4 weeks. And I'm in better shape now than what I was then. I think it is a realistic expectation, as long as you are prepared for the possibility to run/walk part of it, and you start your training slowly..

Hi there
No, but I think I need to especially if I'm going to keep up with what I'm doing. So many times I feel like I literally need to like hold myself - ha! I will look into that...

Haha- can you imagine the crazy looks you would get for doing that?! It makes me giggle just thinking about running down the road here holding onto my stomach!
I wouldn't say I'm having any "issues" its more that I have to keep modifying exercises for my ever growing belly. I think it's only a matter of time until my belly starts hitting the floor as I'm doing pushups.

Oh how I wish I could say I've been doing something...
I'm still walking to work everyday (4 mi, total), so that is good. I'm just so swollen and uncomfortable most of the time and the last thing I want to do is go to the gym.
Keep up the good work ladies, we are in the home stretch now!!!
Hi ladies! I haven't been doing much other than walking and my prenatal yoga classes, but I have a tip on the leg cramps. My yoga instructor told us that green coconut water (O.N.E. or VitaCoco brand) is awesome for leg cramping because it's way more hydrating than regular water and has potassium. I haven't had much leg cramping, so I can't vouch for it personally, but thought I'd pass along the tip anyway! She also swears by it for when you go into labor, too, for the hydration. She was a midwife for 30-something years or so...

Yup. Coconut Water is awesome during pregnancy. We order the Vita Coco by the case from Amazon (hubby loves it too). Great for hydration. I haven't had any leg cramps so far this pregnancy.
I think I posted on here once, a long while back. I've been on exercise restriction since 15w and it JUST got lifted today!! Woohoo!! We've been waiting till the 30w mark to lift restrictions and in the last week I've been fantasizing about what I'm going to do
So today I did the Summer Sanders full workout and it felt awesome. My arms and thighs and butt were killing me and I'm fully expecting to be sore tomorrow, and I love it
I'm planning on switching it up at home with the 2 or 3 workout dvd's I have, trying to get in 3-5 two mile walks during the week on the boardwalk and then I'm hoping to start up water aerobics which is once a week (I did it up until 41w with my last pg and I LOVED it).

Saturday - kickboxing
Sunday - step class

I'm starting to feel myself slow down now. I can't do modified burpees anymore, but it didn't come as much of a suprise.
As always, totally impressed with your workouts!
