But my shower is next week and I checked the registry and only 4 people have viewed it (no purchases)... MIL put the registry info on the invites, but I guess H's family doesnt like registries or something (family shower). I wish they would have looked because it has everything that we need on there, and according to MIL 3 people have bought us an exersaucer (not even on the registry). I dont care about purchases, I just wanted them to use the registry as a guide.
Oh, and I think 35 people are coming. (H has like, 10 aunts.)
I just hope that the 4 people that looked told 30 other people what we needed... (H's family has a habit of buying toys for these kinds of things)
Re: I hope I dont come off as a brat, or something...
yeah sounds like you won't get much off your registry
just be prepared to return a lot of stuff if you get duplicates.
but MANY people, most really, don't buy a gift until the day before or day of the shower, so there's still plenty of time.
at my showers last weekend I only got 1 registry gift at the first (10 guests), second shower it was all registry stuff. I got tons of clothes at the first shower, none at the second. It just depends on your guests and how they like to shop.

Luckily, we have a friend shower in July. I just remember from H's cousin's shower that she got mostly toys (She didnt really have toys on her registry) and A LOT of tummy time mats. I felt kind of bad that only a few people (out of 40-ish) got her essential items.
I feel ya, my parents went hogwild with our registry and DH's cousin did as well, but not many others did. My half siblings went in on a Graco travel system for us, which is a wonderful thought, but... we live in the city, and our lifestyle isn't really one that necessitates a big travel system. Plus, we're pretty tall, and most strollers are very short. We gave it a shot though and lucky since the handle is adjustable it is JUST tall enough that we can push it without bending over or kicking the back of it, so we decided to keep it. I'm just not sure where it will go; our apartment is small, we're on the 3rd floor of a walkup so I won't be taking it in and out on my own while DH is at work, and space will be at a premium in our station wagon if we're traveling with our two dogs. We essentially didn't need a travel system at all, but I'm sure the stroller will at least get some use when she's old enough to want up and down a lot, which would make wearing her more of a hassle.
What irks me is that it came with the type of car seat we registered for, a Snugride 22... so, I mean, our Amazon registry allowed you to say "I purchased this item elsewhere" to mark something as bought... if it were me I would have marked the car seat as bought since the system came with one. Nobody did, so DH's brother bought us the car seat on its own. We only have one car (I don't foresee myself getting my license) so we don't need two at all. It's just frustrating. Sounds horribly ungrateful, which isn't my goal, but I just don't think I'd ever be tempted to get someone a huge (in size) big ticket item if they weren't registered for it and I knew they lived in a little city apartment. It's a nice stroller though and I'm stoked on the fact that we can actually push it! haha.

People usually wait till a day or so before to actually shop so their is still hope.
For my shower my stepmom told everyone I was registered somewhere I wasn't... needless to say we didn't get much off our registry but we still got a ton of stuff so I guess it worked out.

Wishing you the best of luck! I got duplicates of the same pacifiers (4 of them) off my registry when I had registered for 3 different kinds. Other than that I got clothes. Clothes that the tags had been taken off of completely and no gift receipts. Did I mention just about everything was newborn size? MIL is convinced LO is gonna be 9lbs like her daddy was too.
Oh well! Enjoy the party though. Eat fun things!!
I had my shower this passed weekend and I got a good mix of things on and off the registries. Many people shopped starting Thursday before the Sunday shower, and the last things to come off were Saturday. The off registry stuff wasn't too bad and I like most of it and will be able to use it, only one person, my stepmom, went nuts buying clothes, but we're team green, so her choices were limited. I think I now have every single gender neutral duck outfit Carter's makes. She also got 2 clear boy outfits, and I received one clear girl outfit complete with a ruffled onesie from one of my aunts.
Returning is a pain, but if you can, BRU and Buy Buy Baby usually have good policies and you can get the credit and use it for what you really need.
