I've had to get the shot 3 times.  2 of those times it was in the bum and one time in the arm.

They didn't give me an option, so bum it was. I am glad though because it didn't hurt at all. I expected a lot worse.

Mine hurt like he!! And my hip was sore the rest of the day.

they've always given me the choice, but i was told it would hurt less in the bum.  its never plesant, but never horrible either.

This exactly. I've had 2 this pregnancy, both in the bum, neither hurt AT ALL. I was pleasantly surprised. 

Last pregnancy I got it in my arm and it definitely hurt more.

This is my second pregnancy and all of mine have been in the arm. The first time I didn't get a choice. I chose arm this time and it felt no different than the first time. Just like a flu shot or something, didn't hurt after the stick at all.

In my first pregnancy, I had one in the thigh - that hurt terribly. This time I went in at 11 weeks for bleeding, and they gave it in the arm, which wasn't so bad, so when I got the 28 week one, I asked for it in the arm again. She was going to do the bum, but I think I was still so horrified over remembering the leg one (they're both below the waist, I don't know) that I got it in the arm. It didn't hurt that badly.

I'm also terrified of needles so it wasn't a good experience regardless but it wasn't too bad. Now the TDAP vaccine I got today - that hurt like a motherf. Ouch.
