Eczema related ?'s

A couple of weeks ago when the weather started to get hot DS broke out with some small bumps on his hands. Now they are pretty much all over his body. They don't seem to bother him. We went to the Dr. and he said he had no clue what it was, awesome.

My conclusion is it's eczema. (We dealt with it a bit when he was younger.) Either that or the suntan lotion is irratating his skin?

If your LO has eczema what does it look like? Have you found a suntan lotion that doesn't seem to irritate it as much? Are there any lotions you would recommend to help?

I'm sick of google. TIA!

Re: Eczema related ?'s

  • My DS has eczema. We use aveno eczema lotion morning and night. As for suntan lotion we use aveno as well. His are dry patched mostly but some are small bumps.

  • Oliver's eczema is dry, red, itchy patches.  Not small bumps.  I can't believe your doctor couldn't help you.  Maybe you should take him to a dermatologist.

I thought I remembered eczema being more patches and not bumps. Someone just told me that bumps can be it so it threw me off because they're clusters of them too. I am thinking a dermatologist is in our future. Thanks.

It could be, but I've never noticed bumps on his flare-ups.  Plus, when Oliver has a flare-up it itches really bad.  He will scratch until it bleeds if I don't watch him and keep his nails short.

:( Poor guy. Yeah now I am thinking it must be a reaction to the suntan lotion or something else. If only his dr. was this helpful it would have saved us a second trip!

  • Yeah our guy has alopecia (autoimmune) so he has bad eczema.  It doesn't really have bumps.  More like red patches.  We take him to the head of the dermatology dept at Children's Hospital in Boston.  They're really good.

Hope you find out what's up!

This, DD scratches so much it makes cuts, the doctor will give you a prescribed cream and also a allergy med.

  • My son has eczema and it's patchy, although there can be tiny little bumps too.  I have tried everything and the only thing I found that works is the Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy.
