Hi ladies. I am not sure the best board to post this question in, so please bear with me and redirect me if necessary. I just got my bw results back, and my hcg is officially below 2. all m y RE 's nurse said was to call after my next missed period to start on my protocol again.
They were very hesitant to put me on Progesterone to begin with (months ago.. .even though ny bw clearly showed I was low), and have flat out refused to increase it for future cycles. They've said they don't do that. all of their patients are on the same dose of Crinone. Is this common!? Should I be looking elsewhere? TIA

Re: xp : Progesterone increase after m/c?
I don't know much about progesterone supplements, but it seems very strange to me that they say all of their patients are on the same dose. That just strikes a chord as being wrong - some women may be borderline and only need a little more, some women might have very low P4 numbers and need much more. Do they measure your progesterone or just put you on the supplements? Could they put you on the supplement they usually do, take your levels again, and then decide whether you need more?
Honestly, I've gotten a little gun-shy about OBs/midwives after my experience with my first pregnancy. At the first (or maybe second to give them another chance) sign of them not being willing to explain a choice they're making about my treatment or not being willing to listen to my explanations of why I think it should be different, I would be out the door and in search of another practice.
I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope that either your midwives start to support you more or that you find some who do.

They tested me a few months before they put me on Crinone. Every time I was low - both without medication, and with (clomid). They can't truly test while I'm on Crinone because it's a suppository and doesn't end up in my blood stream.
I will be discussing this with my current and my 2nd opinion doctor. I was just hoping to hear if others were ever on other dosages.

I'm glad to hear your b/w was normal and your hCG didn't do anything wacky. With a low P4 Dx and them unwilling to budge on the dosage, I would look into a second opinion. Your need to have peace of mind and IMO, even if the progesterone doesn't help/save a pregnancy with low P4, at least you don't have all the regrets and 'what ifs' to mull over.
While the progesterone supplements are debatable in the medical community, it may be a situation where you need to find someone who will listen to your concerns. Yeah, they're the doctors, but REs should be more sensitive to the issues that cause you concern.
If it were me, I would call and ask for a consult to go over your plan for next cycle. If they give you a hard time because they said to call later, just tell them no you feel your loss warrants a consult. Just touch base with your RE since you have now had a loss and you have LPD, progesterone needs to be a part of that plan.
