quick clothing question

I work in  a VERY casual office and can wear jeans every day (and can't wear capris/skirts/dresses in our lab) - so all I have are casual jeans/pants.

My DH has a dinner this week that is business casual.  I'd rather not get nice maternity pants since it's so close to the end and I don't anticipate wearing them again.  He just told me about this today Hmm

Any ideas of something I can try out that I could get more use out of?

  • Myoffice is business casual, I've been wearing black yoga pants to work.

What about a cute cotton dress that you can dress up with accessories? On your off days you could dress it down with sandals so that you'll get more use out of it.

This.  I've been buying long maxi dresses (non maternity)  since my maternity shirts are getting too small and pants/shorts are not as comfortable anymore.  Then I totally plan on wearing them after delivery.  I tried to find ones that will be easy to nurse in too.  But I'm with you, I refuse to spend money on maternity clothes this late in the game.

What do you do about chub rub when you wear dresses?  I've always had this problem a little but I think my thighs have expanded at the same rate as my belly :(

  • You could get a non-maternity maxi or empire waist dress that you can wear again when you're not pregnant.  I have several that I got last time and wore when not pregnant.

I also have some foldover skirts from Old navy that aren't maternity.  They aren't the most comfortable when pregnant but not too bad.

As for the chub rub, it's an issue for me too.  I just deal with it but you could try baby powder or vaseline?

</p><p>What is "chub rub?"</p><p>I agree with PPs' suggestion of a dress. &nbsp;I wear dresses pretty much daily. &nbsp;I find them much more comfortable than pants, even maternity pants. &nbsp; The only other option I would suggest is if you own a skirt made of a very stretch material - I have a few from pre-pregnancy that I can still wear and pair them with one of my maternity tops or another long shirt. &nbsp;</p>

    - maybe that's regional slang ;)

It's the problem you have when your thighs touch and rub when you walk.

Thanks for the ideas ladies.  Looks like I'll hit up target tonight and try to get to Motherhood after work tomorrow :)

  • Like PP's said (although you can't wear to work), you can wear cotton dresses to other things, weekends, etc.  I have lived in these for the past 3 months now - got some great ones at Target (Liz Lange for around $19-$29).  I have two short ones in classic black and red and then three maxi dresses that are beyond comfy!  They will be great for after LO is here - plus once baby weight is gone, the maxi dresses will work non-preggo IMO and the cotton short dresses, I'll just use as night gowns.

When I wear dresses I just wear a pair of these cotton type "biker" looking shorts that I bought at Walmart underneath...they're super comfortable and the waist band is stretchy so it doesn't bother my belly...I LOVE them, I even wear them around the house when I have no where to go! they're kinda like these in the link below:
