anyone have any recommendations of when i should go for my 3d ultrasound? some people say not to go too early but some say not to go too late either because then it's too tight in there and it might be harder to see baby.
Uh-oh. I am getting nervous by some of the replies...I have on Thursday at 27 and a half weeks and am taking my two stepsons (ages 7 and 12). I have shown them some googled pics to prepare them that she won't look like a digital picture. Am hoping she's not too Skeletor-like. When I did the research, it recommended going before 30 weeks if you wanted full body/length shots. GL!
My doctors office does it between 24-26 weeks. I had one at 24 weeks and then 25 weeks. Baby looked great! They did it twice beause the baby had it's hand infront of its face most of the time. We really are getting a suprise....just got a little glimps of the face. I was happy with the pics we got. Don't worry about it.
The facility I used recommends that you go some time between 24-32 weeks. I bought a package off of Groupon a few months back and went lasts weekend because it was going to expire. We took a few out of town relatives and they loved it. I don't think that our baby girl looked that scary she's perfect if you ask me.

I am going at 27 weeks when my family will be in town. My place recommends having it done anytime between 27-32 weeks because if you wait until after 32 weeks the face can be smushed due to lack of room.
I received a gift certificate for one at 25 weeks and then the second one at 33 weeks. With my son we had it done at 33 weeks and got some really great pictures.

They did some 3D stuff at my 19 week gender scan. He didn't look skeletor like or anything, but it was hard to determine what was what without the tech explaining things. He also just looked very flat, not 3D. I'm sure at 27 weeks she will be more developed and the pictures will be better than mine. Hope it goes well! How fun for your stepsons!
I had one at 20 weeks and one at 26 weeks. He was really scrawny at the 20 week one, but not flat or skeleton like...just...like a skinny baby. Sooo cute, though. The second one he had majorly filled out and looked like a completely different baby. You could actually see eyelashes and some hair and he had the chubbiest cheeks! Be prepared, though...the fluid and the magnification can cause quite a bit of distortion. The baby isn't deformed and doesn't have random stuff growing off of their heads...lol... My DH was worried because it looked like our kid had a deflated horn coming out of his forehead...it was most likely my uterine walls, or even the cord at a weird angle, but I had to pretty much talk him down after that one...

Re: 3D ultrasound question
Ditto, I just went at 25 weeks while visiting family out of state and it was just terrifying. Not cute at all. Poor baby needs to fatten up.

I think the tech just needs a good angle and quick reflexes, and you'll get a good pic. This was taken at week 23. He's all baby!
