I took Natalie to the pedi yesterday. She had been congested for more than two weeks and though her nasal congestion had gotten better, she still had a phlegm-y cough and at times, a hacking cough. Fussier than usual. Little bit of fluid in her ears, so the dr. put her on amoxocillan (sp) for 10 days. If anyone has been through this, did the meds start to work pretty fast? It's not contagious, from what I've read online (forgot to ask dr.). That's true, right?
Re: Anyone's DC have a sinus infection?
She sounds exactly like Charlotte. Charlotte got a sinus infection last year, which wasn't bad at all, except she had this horrible cough at night. She used amoxicillin first and that didn't work for her. The pedi switched her to azithromycin and it cleared up in a couple of days.
Charlotte now has a sinus infection which has been really bad. She's a little fussy and congested during the day, but at night she has been horrible - she was waking up crying 7-8 times per night because of all the coughing and phelgm. The doctor put her on azithromycin again. She finished the 5 day dose yesterday and she's definitely better (no night wakings), but she's still got a yucky cough and congestion. I'm going to give it some time before we go back to the doctor, though.
Oh, and it's not contagious.
