All day sickness...

Hello ladies!

I will be 14 weeks tomorrow after having a miscarriage January 1,2012 my husband and I are ecstatic and he is telling everyone he knows he is going to be a daddy. My question is: I am still sick ALL day. My midwife has me on Zofran 3x a day but I still stay nauseated all day and throw up couple times a week. Anyone else still sick?

Re: All day sickness...

  • Zofran worked for me for only a week or so. Ask your Dr if they can try a different medication.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • 14 weeks was the point where I started to finally feel better. Fingers crossed that this week you start to turn the corner.  Congrats on this pregnancy!

    You might want to see if they can add something else, like phenergan or reglan?  My doc added reglan because I can't take phenergan (unless I want to sleep for 24hrs).  It didn't do me any bit of good, but maybe it will work for you!  Good Luck!!!

  • I'm 16 weeks (3days) and STILL sick. Until about 15 weeks I was nauseous 24/7..Now I'm not nauseous 24/7 but my 'gag' reflex is SO easily triggered. If I smell something, I gag and throw up. If I see food in a commercial, I throw up..even if its delicious food!.. The other day I took my dog for a morning walk and there was a slug on the ground..started to gag and had to practically run back to the house to throw up in my own yard rather than the side of the road.

    There are days when I open the door to go in my house, and if DH has made himself something to eat..I have to run back outside and puke. My neighbors probably think I've got a constant hangover or something. ... Actually, thinking about all this stuff is starting to make my stomach turn.

    The only thing that helps me a little bit is not being too 'full'..Since about 9 weeks, I've had a constant feeling of being 'stuffed'..like I just ate a huge Thanksgiving dinner! If I eat too much at one time I notice I feel more sick/gag easily ... Sipping ICE COLD water throughout the day helps too, or sucking on ice cubes.

    Hope you start feeling better soon!

  • I was having all day sickness and ended up in the hospital for 2 days when I was 10 weeks. I have been on Diclection ever since. I am just starting to feel better now in my 18th week. I haven't taken my Diclection in 3 days and I seem to be ok.. still have very slight nausea but its nothing like I had before. I think I might be turning a corner finally... I hope I'm not jinxing it :S

  • Can you get Diclectin in the US yet? It's bascially a B6 vitamin.

    It works wonders for me!! I'm up to 8 a day (the max). I still feel slightly sick but I'm not actually sick any more. Now it's just things that I eat or smell that will trigger it.

    Most of the sympotms went away with my last pregnancy around 20 weeks and didn't come back till the last 3 weeks....I'm hoping the same happens this time again.

  • I am 14w4d and I am still dealing with extreme all day m/s.  I am also on Zofran 3x a day but sometimes it only helps with the vomiting and it leaves me feeling nauseous all day long.  I had a few days last week where I was starting to feel better and thought I was over it but then I went right back to puking up everything I eat.  I was this bad with both of my boys til about 16w or so.  Just keep trying different things until you find something that tastes good and stays in your stomach.  (Green apples seem to work best for me right now.)

    I will tell you the "silver lining" to all of the m/s: the Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist that we saw for our NT scan said that severe m/s is usually a good sign for them because it means that the placenta is well attached and producing a lot of hormones (which is what is making us so sick) and that means that the pregnancy is VERY viable.  (We had a scare at 5w, so to hear him say that the m/s was a good sign of us not losing the baby was a GREAT thing!)

    Speaking from experience, I know it sucks right now but soon this will be behind us and we'll forget how bad this part was.  Hope you feel better soon!  {{Hugs}}
