dumb ? - when is it safe to get prenatal massage?

for some reason i thought it was wait til 3rd tri but wanted to confirm.

I was told 2nd tri.  Most pre-natal massage places will require your OB's approval before giving one.  They'll fax over a release.  I got one in 2nd tri and one so far in 3rd.  They are awesome - enjoy if you get to!

Really? I read in a pregnancy book the other day it's safe to get them at any point, but they can make you dizzy in first tri (but are not unsafe for the baby).

I started at about 15w.  I heard once you are in 2nd tri you are good.  Massages are one of the things I missed after getting pregnant.  I say go for it!

I'm going for one today!  My Dr. and massage therapist ok'd it.  Can't wait!

I think I got my first one in 2nd tri. I always thought that it was mostly important to find someone who is trained at prenatal massage so no harm is done. So far I have had them done while I am lying down on my side. I know that some people have special tables where you can lay on your stomach. I really want to try this kind:)

Most places wont take you until 2nd tri. I had 2 in 2nd tri and will have another tomorrow. Massages are even more heavenly now so I hope you enjoy

Most places won't take you until you're in the second tri, but they are safe, with a trained prenatal massage therapist, at any time.  However, the other thing is that by third tri you may be too uncomfortable.  I'm getting them in conjunction with seeing my chiropractor and while they are great, it's hard to get into a comfortable position at all anymore.  For the most indulgence, a second tri massage is the way to go IMO.

My OB preferred I wait until after 20 weeks. I never questioned why. But I've had two so far and loved them!

My doctor said anytime is fine but to get someone specifically who does maternity massages. I am 11 weeks today and have my first tomorrow thanks to my mom!

I had several prenatal massages and I don't remembe needing to wait until a specific time to get them.  I did go to someone who was trained specifically in prenatal massage, so I felt more comfortable than going to a regular place.  She also had me lay on my side with lots of pillows, which was way more comfortable than laying on my tummy would have been.  Ahh, it was so heavenly, I always felt so good afterwards.  Just make sure to drink lots of water before and after, and be prepred to just veg out after!
