i know some doctors use the 140 scale, others use the 135 scale.
i had my GD test today and it came back at 137. my doc uses the 135 scale and would like me to go in for the 3 hour test. i'm not convinced i need it since other docs use the 140 scale. we are also paying for everything 100% out of pocket right now, and have mounds of other medical bills we are trying to pay. i know that the majority of tests that come back the first time end up being nothing after the 3 hour test, so needless to say i'm very leery on whether or not i think i need it. obviously i don't want to harm myself or my baby, but i guess i need more convincing? anyone?

i will be having a RCS regardless of the GD outcome. don't know if that would make a difference in your opinion?
It's a GIRL!!
Then it might be even more important to know if you have GD or not...babies of mothers with gestational diabetes have a higher risk of RDS or immature lungs, even as late as 38-39 weeks...a NICU stay because they did the RCS too early would be way more expensive than the 3 hour GD test!
I agree with PPs! It is extremely important to know if have GD or not. I failed the one-hour test by just a few points and also ended up failing the 3-hour test. I did not show any symptoms and from what I understand this is common for GD. It's pretty easy to treat and could prevent complications like RDS or shoulder injuries during/after delivery. I know it sucks to have to pay for all of these tests out-of-pocket, but its worth it!
