Water

So after my stint in the hospital over the weekend for fainting due to dehydration I am wondering about everyone else's water/fluid intake.  I was never a big water drinker before getting pregnant but I thought I had been doing better through this but apparently not.

So how much water are you drinking?  Are you drinking other things than water?  and have you increased your fluid intake since getting pregnant?

I bought a 32oz Camelbak waterbottle and drink 3 of those a day. Sometimes 4 if it's a hot day. I was never a huge water drinker before so this was definitely a change for me.

ERA: The reason I mentioned Camelbak is that I found I drank more water with that type of straw nozzle. I got more with each gulp.

I can't get enough water these days. I drink about 100+ oz a day. I will also have a small glass of tea or soda with lunch and a small glass of juice on occasion. But the rest is water. I always drank a lot, but am drinking more since I got pregnant. And it is super hot in Florida and it helps with my swelling.

I try to drink as much as I can without being stationed in the bathroom all day. Ditto PP on the straw, I drink way more from a straw. I always have a water bottle by my side. I also like Klarbrun sparkling water. I've added Mio sometimes to give it some flavor.

I carry a water bottle with me at all times.  It's 24oz and I fill it at least 4 times, just at work.  Plus, I'll have a few glasses of water when I get home.  At work, it's just plain water.  But at home, I might add lemon or lime and a splash of juice.  When DH does it for me, he says he's making me a mocktail.

I always drank a lot of water, but have definitely increased my intake during my pregnancy.  We also don't have soda in the house, and only juice now that I've been pregnant, so water has always been our primary beverage.

I haven't been a big drinker and it is hard in my job because I can't go to the bathroom often. I bought a Camelbak. It is so worth the money. I can't drink water out of a glass anymore. Dh calls it my bottle because I will only drink out of that. I use the Crystal Light Pure in it, too, about once or twice a day because it helps me drink a lot more!

I carry an InTak by Thermos water bottle.  It's 22 oz and I drink at least 4.  The neat thing about this water bottle is it has a dial on it that helps you keep up with how many bottles you have had.  I also try to drink a glass of OJ or V8 everyday as well as a glass of milk before bed.

I was not a big water drinker before but now I just find myself thirsty all the time!  I drink about 60oz of water during the day and at night; in addition, I drink 1 large glass of milk plus a cup of 1/2 milk + 1/2 coffee in the AM.  I also drink an additon of 20oz water when I exercise (~5days/week).  I don't drink juice much, except for a small glass of OJ on the weekends.  But I started making my own mint/lemonade these days and I drink 1-2 glasses of that a day instead of water.

I bought a 36oz. water bottle from Walmart and I fill it about 5-7 times per day (that's a lot, I know!)

I was like you pre-pregnancy - I was just never thirsty and hardly ever drank fluids but one of my "symptoms" was and is extreme thirst so that helps.

I basically drink water and milk - I maybe have a root beer once or twice a month. I was adding lemon juice to my water but I think that was aggravating my heartburn so I've slowed down on doing that.

ETA: And ditto what the PPs said about using a straw - I drink WAY more water with this water bottle and my Camelback than I did when I was just drinking out of a cup. It helps too that they hold more so I don't have to fill it as often.

I was already a big water drinker due to being hospitalized with kidney stones in college. I was told that if I wanted to avoid future kidney stone troubles I needed to drink large amounts of water every day for the rest of my life (10 days to pass stones sticks with you!).

I have tried to increase my water even more, but I am already drinking and peeing so much that I probably have only increased by 32 or so oz/day. Therefore I probably guzzle somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-200oz/day.

1st and 2nd tri I drank a ridiculous amount.  I have a 32 oz cup with a straw that I refilled about 6-8 times a day, plus juice on the weekends.  And sometimes a sonic slush if I got really hot.  But it seems like I hardly have room in my belly for that much water anymore, so I can't drink as much at a time.  I would say I'm down to filling it 4-5 times a day?  I was never good at drinking water before I was pregnant, I was a coffee and soda person.  But since getting pregnant, I want nothing to do with coffee or soda, it's water all the way.

I am drinking a LOT of water. I don't have a set amount but basically just keep filling up my glass all day long. I get really thirsty if I don't.

Sometimes I'll drink caffeine free organic soda, but rarely. I wish I was motivated to make herbal iced tea, but have been too tired.

I've never been a big water drinker so it's been an adjustment for me. Thankfully my cup of coffee and juices help contribute to my fluid intake. I aim to drink two to three water bottles every day, and that's a lot for me. I really have to think about it and force myself.

I was never a HUGE water drinker, so incresing my intake has definitely been a change. I have an aluminim SIGG bottle that is pretty much attached to my hip. It's 24oz and I fill it probably 4 times at work and then have another 3 glasses of water or half juice/organic lemonade & half water at home. I also have a cup of decaf coffee in the morning and drink the milk from my cereal at night, lol! So, the total is well over a hundred ounces. Yes, I live in the bathroom!

    I drink about 120 oz of water/day.

Before I got pregnant I probably drank 70-80 oz/day.  I love water and it is basically all I drink, unless I go get starbucks or something.

I pretty much lived with a Diet Dr. Pepper in my hand before I got pregnant, and rarely drank water.

Since I got pregnant I love water and try to drink 80-100 ozs. per day.  I also drink skim milk with breakfast and dinner and will have an occasional diet Dr. Pepper or some type of juice.

I am really bad about drinking water. I try to remember to drink more, but the more I drink the more I get heartburn. UGH! I'm drinking about 6 -8 cups a day. Which is not enough. On my "to work on" list.

So sorry you were in the hospital.  I was told by my OB that if you think you are drinking enough water, drink more.

I feel like I don't get enough water as well because I am always thirsty talking all day.  I do keep a water bottle on my desk at all times and fill it up multiple times a day.  At this point, I am only drinking water but occasionally I will have lemonade or gatorade.

I try and drink 100-128oz per day.  Before being pregnant I drank about 80oz per day so the increase hasn't been much.  The oz are based on Dr Luke's book about Multiples Pregnancy.
