I was just wondering if you are planning on pre-registering at the hospital or for STM, if you did this with your first baby, how soon before your due date did you register? I want to do that, so I have less to do the day I'm admitted, but I'm not sure when it is typically done.
Re: pre-registering??
We did it with DD1 around 29ish weeks. When I came in and my water had broken, it still took them forever to figure everything out.
With DD2 I waited until the last minute (as I did with everything...lol) and ended up going into labor at 35w0d and was 9cm when I got to the hospital. Since I had been there before, they rushed me up to the room and DH filled out the paperwork (in the room) while I got changed and hooked up. It was actually easier - but they may have just been helping us out since we were in somewhat of a rush.
I guess I'll pre-register with DS, but only because DH had trouble filling out my paperwork and while I was in bed dealing with contractions I was having to help him fill it out. Ha! I'd rather not do THAT part again.

Thanks for all of the info! I was thinking it was done pretty close to the due date..I didn't know I could do it now. Guess I better get on that!! :-)
my ob gave me a folder at the beginning of my pg and in it was my pre-registration packet for the hospital. I filled it out around 15 weeks and sent it in! LOL. Cause if not....I would have forgotten about it.
Plus this is a different hospital from when my other 2 were born, so I figured I would juat go ahead and do it.
My hospital allows you to preregister online, so I did this a couple months ago when I signed up for my childbirth/parenting class.
My hospital also uses pre-registration as a way to get you to pay your deductible or any co-insurance up front after they verify your insurance (like most OB's do).
Both times I did it around now. I like just having one less thing to worry about.

With DD, I was advised by my OB to pre-register around 24-28 weeks, so I went in around 27 weeks or so.
With DS, since my midwife practice was part of the hospital, I didn't have to do anything to "pre-register". They had electronic access to all of my info that I provided to the midwife practice.
With this LO, I haven't been asked/told to pre-register at all so far. I printed off the form from online, and will have it with me for my appt on Friday. But since my OB practice is part of the hospital, I'm assuming the hospital will already have my info (all records are electronic).

My OB and his practice is part of the hospital but we still had to preregister because they are also part of a different hospital (so I had a choice between 2 hospitals). The hospital did have access to my file, but no reason to look for it or know that I would be deliveryng there without me pre-registering.
I would definately ask at my next appointment to make sure what if anything is required.
