How popular are the names Lucille and Eloise? These are our top two names for a girl and I'm worried there may be too many using the same name. I hated growing up with a common name! ?How many do you know??How many of you ladies plan on using one of these names or nn, Lucy or Elle for your daughter? Thanks for the help!

Eloise's popularity is really growing. Two years ago, it was ranked at 913 according to the SSA. It is now ranked at 449. Which isn't too high right now, but it might continue to jump up the list in the future.
Lucille is currently ranked at 455 and has been slowly moving up the list in the past few years. Last year it was 478.
They are both good picks IMO, but if popularity is a problem for you, they might not be the best options.
Lucille isn't super popular, but Lucy is. I know a ton of baby Lucys (and it was on our list for a girl, but we had a boy). It was # 72 in 2011. But, if you're going with Lucille and not planning to call her Lucy, I doubt she'll know many others in her age group.
I think it's harder to know about the popularity of Elle, if you plan on calling her by a nickname...because there are many more names that use the nickname Elle.
Both great names, though!!!
i do not know any lucilles except for a few older ladies
i know 2 girls named eloise
If you're looking for something more uncommon then, like PPs said, Lucy & Elle are pretty popular as FNs and nns right now. I'd probably still consider Lucille and Eloise, but might not use a nn. When she gets older she could always choose to go by Lucy or Elle if she doesn't mind the popularity, but she'll have the FN too which will make her name a little more distinctive.
I don't know any little Lucilles or Eloises right now, but the name Lucille does makes me think of Arrested Development

We have a Lucia (prn loo-SEE-ah) and we call her Lucy sometimes. Other times it's Lulu or Lulee or just Lucia.
Lucy isn't too popular where I am, but that's why we didn't name her just Lucy. I've never met another Eloise.
I think Lucille and Eloise are great names. I've always loved Eloise but DH took it off the table. However, I do know quite a few little girls called Lucy, Elle, Ellie and Ella so unless you're going to use the names in full. I'd probably find something else.
