I wanted to love coconut oil...

But I don't. Everyone seems to swear by it.  DS has eczema and during a flair up I used coconut oil, didn't work, CJ's worked like magic though. I've used it when DS had a red bum from mild to ammonia burn, didn't work. I have very dry skin, it will turn ashy and flaky fast I've been using the oil and it didn't  last as long as I thought I would. Plus I really really dislike the oily feel I really prefer the lotion texture where it absorbs instantly.  The one thing I was amazed by was how it worked under my arm pits, no sweat no stink...for a very short time, but worked nonetheless so I'm excited about making my own deodorant soon!

Anyway, anyone else not in love with coconut oil either? Any lotion users? I was using for LO and myself supersensitive lotion by CB but I don't like the new formula and haven't found anything local. I hate to pay for shipping.  Any suggestions?

  • I think it's ok as a deep conditioner for my hair, but beyond that, I don't care for it. It actually made my eczema flair up worse, and was no where near moisturizing enough for the rest of my skin. I'll stick with olive oil.

  • I agree it's not very moisturizing. I use it in my hair though. What's cj's?

CJ's BUTTer, it's a natural diaper ointment but many use it as a moisturizer or for eczema.

  • I'm not a big fan for bad eczema. It helps on small bits but doesn't do anything for Lil's hardcore eczema. And I agree on the too greasy for everyday lotion. I do like it for chapped lips, teething rash, and cooking though.

  • I heard that ingesting it can help with eczema, but I'm not sure if it is true or not. I know ingesting it helps my acne like a miracle.

I like it, but I don't have eczema.  I think it absorbs fairly well and is moisturizing enough. Olive oil is probably better since it is thicker, but I don't like the smell of it lingering around.
