Yesterday I saw my OB for the first time after getting the GD diagnosis. The nutritionist had indicated that I could have up to 2 "fails" each week. My OB was thrilled with my post-meal numbers and mentioned that my fasting numbers were all over the board, but she wasn't concerned at all. She told me that I would have to fail 50% of my glucose levels before she would put me on meds. I admit I was a little surprised at how generous her policy is. I had mentioned that I was attending a wedding that evening, and she told me that I definitely didn't need to skip the cake.
I have up to 3 fails a week before I need to call my nutritionist. My doc hsant give me any guidelines. (I assuming she agrees with the nutritionist and knows who I need to call if my numbers get wonky.)
I have been experimenting the last week and told that to the doc since we are going on vacay in June. She was like I am glad you stopped experimenting but nothing else. She wasnt too concerned because when I stopped all my numbers came back great.

My OB told me that I could fail half of my numbers before going on meds.
I don't call my nutritionist for medical advice or treatment when I have high numbers. I just call my OB. I call my nutritionist when I have questions about what I can do to fix the high numbers or need new meal/snack ideas.
I had to send my numbers to my MFM, and I would have 2-3 fails a week. They never said anything. Ultimately it's up to the person that is going to put you on meds/insulin, and that isn't the nutritionist!

I send my numbers once a week to my RN at the perinatologist's office. It I have high numbers she questions if there was a cause if so she's typically not too worried as long as it's not happening all the time. Like 1 night out where I don't quite get my meal figured out right.
