bottles & nippes - do you have to use the same brand?

so, i'm a first time mom and a little clueless. hoping you guys can help me out...

does anyone know if you have to use the same nipple brand as the bottle that you are using. i got a bunch of used medela bottles, lids, etc but no nipples and i'm wondering if i need to buy medela nipples for those bottles? or can i just use any other brand?

Yes, you have to use the same nipple, ring and bottle from the same brand....

I know that this has talked about on the bump but this is what my pedi said....some woman agree and others DON'T

You should NOT re-use bottles even if its from your first child to your second...

Plastic deteriates (Sp) over time and its not safe......

So unless they are glass I would purchase brand new bottles...IMO

We have born free bottles and different branded nipples. Go with what works for your baby.

I use parents choice (walmart brand) bottles with a dr brown's preemie nipple. I have found the ring from the pc bottle w the dr brown nipple fits on my medela bottles that came with my pump. I found the medela nipple flow was waay to fast for my bf baby.

I know the Dr.Browns nipples will fit on the medela bottles

As long as the nipple fits the collar/ring you can use whatever you'd like.
