Eczema battle

Is anyone still having problems with eczema at this point??

Thankfully my son's isn't that bad... he mostly get's it in one spot by his left cheek and maybe on his forehead at times. They only thing that I have used that works is Hydrocortisone. I have tried two other products, one natural and they have not worked =( Also , if I don't apply the Hydrocortisone on him several times a day he will get a nasty flare up and it will look like it's blistering.

So has anyone used something that is helping keep flare ups down or something that has completely made it go away??  I know it's not the best to keep using hydrocortisone so if there is something I don't have to keep applying multiple times a day that may work a lot better I would love to hear about it!!

Calendula cream. My lo's eczema basically resolved when I stopped eating dairy as well.

DS's was caused by dairy. We eliminated wheat, then eggs, then dairy to find the culprit. It was on his face and patches on his legs. It would come and go but would always come back. Have you looked into eliminating foods in his diet?

We went to the doc and got a topical cream.  It works like a charm.

We continue to battle this as well.  At her 9 month well check, doc reports continue with hydrocortisone cream.

My LO has it pretty bad.  We use Aquaphor every night and am.  The name brand kind is the only thing that works.

She still has it (at times) on her back and on her legs.  It is a very low grade eczema as it doesn't usually get very red, just dry & scaly patches.  It will bug her on occassion on her back - we will see her squirm in her chair trying to get it itched.  I still haven't figured out what causes it.  It's also very inconsistent.  We used the Baby Aveeno and also find the JJ OAtmeal lotion also helps.

We went to the dermatologist and got a prescription ointment called Desonide that we use on flare-ups. We only have to use it twice a day for 2-3 days before DS's skin is back to normal. In between flare-ups, we use CeraVe cream which was also recommended by the dermatologist. The key, I have found, with eczema is to stay ahead of it. I slather DS with CeraVe multiple times per day. Keeping him moisturized really helps keep the flare-ups at bay. Since we started this regimen, I think he has only had 2-3 flare-ups, and this is over the course of 3 months or so.

Thanks for all the replies!! Great suggestions!

I will be looking into trying those different creams and may ask the dr/dermatologist for a medicated ointment as well if OTC doesn't work. I may try a soy based formula as well if I don't see a difference with just the creams! Wish us luck!
