We will wait until 6+ months. We did the same with DD. My pedi said that introducing solids before then is more of a novelty for the parents than a nutritional necessity for baby, and I tend to agree for the most part. (Not that I think it's "wrong," just not what's right for us! I prefer LO to be ebf).

Ds was taking that same amount of formula around 3 1/2 months, and the pedi didn't want us to up the ounces, so we started rice cereal, fed by spoon. I would make his regular 6 oz bottle, then use the baby spoon to scoop about 3-5 spoonfuls into a small bowl, then use the bottle I just made to get it to the consistency I wanted! Once he turned four months I upped it to 5-8 spoonsfuls and I fed him that for breakfast andwe started to introduce baby food, which I buy the small containers, and give him half for lunch half for dinner and his bottle. If you want to try it I don't see why not, do what's best for your family and your lo.

We will wait longer than 4 months, and probably until 6 months, but if she shows interest before then we'll start before then. Right now she doesn't have great head control, and doesn't seem interested in sitting up, holding her head up, etc., so we won't try until she's more on track with those things. I am so excited to start But I'm not in any big hurry.
Honestly, if I was you, I would try some watery rice cereal or something. I nannied for a friend of mine. When her son about about 3 months old, he would eat back to back 8oz bottles and never seem full enough. He was so much happier when we started giving him rice cereal and baby food.

This is completely off topic, but I just noticed your siggy. My hubs and I also met in 2005, were engaged in 2007, married in 2008, and pregnant in 2011. Different months for all (June, July, November, and June, respectively) but same years! (I'm a nerd who finds those sorts of things cool...) Just had to tell you!

That's neat!!!! I find that pretty interesting cause, how uncommon for two people to meet their dh's, become engaged, get married and get their bfp's the same years!!! That's awesome!!!!

We will probably start some cereal after her 4 month appointment and veggies around 5 months. I was hoping to wait a little longer but DD shows a huge interest in food when we are eatting. She hasn't started reaching for it yet but it's just a matter of time. When we start, we'll probably just do a spoonful or two per day just to have her try things. I want to talk to her pedi at our next appointment in two weeks before we start anything.
Flame me if you want, but we started feeding DS some mixed grain cereal about a week ago. I wasn't really ready, but DH wanted to start because DS wasn't seeming satisfied after I would feed him. He was ready and loves it!

DH keeps saying he wants to start giving her food, but I keep telling him DD's not ready. Argh. So annoying... she' just shy of 4 months, and not showing any interest. As the PP said, I think its just more of a novelty for us. But I know that in no time she'll be eating real food, so Im not up for rushing anything. And we're skipping cereal altogether, straight onto veggies.
DS ate a whole jar of baby food today. He's 3.5 months as well, but was showing some interest and seemed to be harder and harder to satisfy..I wasn't even close to keeping up with my milk production, so we decided to try and he loved it!
