Cosleeping

My little one has been having sleep issues lately. I got her out of her Rock N Play(which she slept most of the night in) and transitioned her to the Pack N Play. She nows sleeps from 8PM-1AM and starts to fidget, if we dont put the pacifier back into her mouth, she starts to cry. Every couple of hours the pacifier comes out and she fidgets again...this is an all night thing so I started putting her in bed with me at 1AM. Once I put her in the bed, she falls asleep and she doesn't fidget as much or its just easier to put the pacifier back in her mouth. With that being sad, I dont sleep when she's in the bed. I don't know what else to do. Any advice?

Re: Cosleeping

  • Maybe she sleeps better on the firmer mattress? Have you tried her crib?

  • I haven't, I'm still so nervous about her own bed. Her room is on the other side of the house and I'm not comfortable with her sleeping there yet

  • Why are you not comfortable?  I was so worried about moving DD to her crib in her nursery, because I liked having her right next to me... but then I got an Angelcare monitor.  The Angelcare will alert me if she stops moving/breathing. I use that, and a video monitor to keep tabs on her.   The first night we moved her out of our bedroom I barely slept a wink.  After a few nights, though, I went back to normal sleeping.  If she cries, the monitors wake me up.  If she is quiet and I am curious or concerned about her, I just look at the video or check the Angelcare to make sure there is still movement in the crib.   It was weird not having her next to me and it was hard to adjust at first, but looking back I'm glad we did the move.

  • She may be hungry...  My DD does this and if I feed her she stops figeting and sleeps soundly until 5am or later, I don't think she's hungry enough to cry and if I give her a paci it helps some.

Now I feed her around 8:45pm she is out by 9:30pm and I dream feed (breastfeed) her at around 11pm when I go to bed(she doesn't wake up while eating).  When I do this she stays soundly asleep until 5am or so.  It may or may not help you but it's worth a try.

P.S. I tried this on a weekend because I wasn't sure if the dream feed would make her wake up and stay awake.
