Before Deployment

What did you and your families do the days before deployment to spend time together? Did you do anything special or just keep it your normal routine?

Re: Before Deployment

  • We went to our favorite restaurants ad spent some time golfing and doing things we enjoy.

  • We mainly kept with our normal routine.  We would go out to eat a bit more, but DH seemed to be preoccupied (obviously) making sure he had everything prepared and ready to go.

  • We pretty much kept with our routine because of the kids and school.  We always go out to eat a bit more for lunch but he likes to eat a bunch of home cooked food before he leaves, too.  He also went to school to have lunch with the kids.  Nothing too crazy or out of the ordinary.

  • In the past, DH parents have visited sometime in the month or so before deployment. Other than that, we just try to spend as much time together as possible (going to the movies, spending time with friends, and just talking to each other). We also finish up any home projects before he leaves. DH will deploy right after the birth of our first child, so I have no idea of what to expect this time.

  • We spent a lot of time together going out to eat, relaxing, movies, but the last few days seemed like more normal routine and wrapping up lose ends.

  • We had a lot of family come in.  Things were actually much busier/more hectic than normal.  He was at the base more hours each day, didn't have as many days off, and we had to make a last minute dentist appointment.  The kids started noticing the change in things before he had even actually left.
