Check into your hospital's carseat safety class

My husband and I attended a carseat safety class put on by our hospital.......paid $20 for the class and walked away with a $100 Evenflo convertible (front facing/rear facing) carseat that will hold up to 50 lbs! As first time parents we definitely learned A LOT and it was obviously well worth the money.  I didn't know that kids have to stay in booster seats until they are 8 years old..........last I heard it was 6!

  • yep!  8 or 80lbs!  Crazy, huh?  I think after I out grew my car seat, that was the end of it.  But I guess with just had the lap belts in the back seat back then, so it was a bit safer.

I know right! I remember bouncing all over my mom's Buick LOL! Heck there are people who drive that need booster seats. I had a co-worker in TN who was 86 lbs and you couldn't even see her eyes when she was in her car.....crazy :)

  • I didn't hit 80 pounds until I was around 13 years old.  I would have been MORTIFIED to still be in a booster seat at that time.  lol...

  • That's awesome. We tried to do this, too and found out the class only gave out free carseats to residents of the county the class was held in. Boo. Lucky you!
