For those who had sudden dip in supply....

I did last week. I traveled three days for work, and I think that coupled with stress completely KILLED my supply.

Anyway, I had BOB (baby on boob Stick out tongue) ALL weekend long and for several hours in the evening on Monday Tuesday. I also refused to give her any milk from the freezer this weekend, so if she was hungry she had to nurse, and tell my body that she needed the milk.  I also started Fenugreek.

Anyway.. I'm very happy to say that my supply is completely back!  At it's lowest I was only getting 1 ounce per pump session. This morning I got 7.

Whew! What about you ladies? Did the Fenugreek and around the clock nursing help?

I EP and had a severe dip after mother's day weekend.  I was out gardening each day for 4-5 hours and not drinking enough water.  I made lactation cookies and ate oatmeal every day for almost a week.  My supply came back and was even better than before :)

  • Glad to hear there's something you can do. I've noticed a really good dip in my supply in the past week since DD has been mostly sleeping through the night now. Looks like my body has taken that as a cue to make a lot less milk. I need to up my game with the water drinking and pump a little more too. I've also been making her eat only off me instead of feeding her a bottle of frozen milk even though it would be more convenient when we go out. As far as keeping her on my boob for extended periods, I actually don't think she would do that. She's the kind of baby that when she's done, she's done and will unlatch and just lay there and look at you. Oh well, all in the name of the liquid gold!

  • I had already been taking Fengreek before my dip in supply, but I think mine might have had to do with dehydration and stress.  I am trying to work on that, and it appears to be slowing come back up.  I think I also might have had a blocked milk duct because one side was producing significantly less and was really, really sore.  That has gone away too.

I had a big dip in supply around the 6 week mark because I wasn't drinking enough water. I didn't realize it until afterwards. I thought my supply was just regulating. I ended up drinking a ton of water just to feel better, and my supply came back just in time for DS's growth spurt. That was a "duh!" moment for me. lol

Ahh!!! That picture is the FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen. I would totally "repin" that on pinterest!!

  • when I had a sudden, serious dip - I had to hit it from all angles.  I added an extra pumping session at work and another after LO was in bed for the night.  I did fenugreek & mothers milk tea twice a day.  I saw an increase in a day, and it was back to normal by day 3.
