He still itches even when skin is pretty clear.. ???

Ds skin has looked decent the past week with most of the eczema still in his face. I attribute it looking better from the use of hydrocortisone . Ugh. Anyways, even when he is not real flared up he is still quite itchy, especially at night. His buried his face in his mattress and rubs it back and forth and wiggles his legs and body. Its do hard to watch. His feet seem itchy too but they aren't rashy at all? I put cerave or vani cream in but sometimes I feel like that makes it worse?  Any ideas why he's still so itchy?

We have the same problem w our dd nad her skin has looked good for a while. Not sure but we think it's just habituated. Her skin was so bad for a while that she itched a lot. Now she still does it anytime she's bored, frustrated or tired. We're trying to retrain her but that's way easier said than done.

  • Eczema is often called "The itch that rashes" instead of the rash that itches. I have had it since I was a child. 9 times out of 10, I will itch first, then the rash will appear. Benadryl, cold wet compresses and a steroid cream are my go-to treatments when the itch starts. It doesn't always stop the rash from appearing, but it does help.
