Re: s/o scary injects...tell me about Bravelle

  • For both cycles I did Bravelle and Menopur. I won't lie they both hurt when not mixed together and mixed together, but it wasn't too terribly bad. I heard a trick right before starting the first time to pinch the skin a little harder then normal, kind of dig in a little with your finger nails. The discomfort created by this will over ride the burn/pinch of the Bravelle/Menopur. Good luck!

  • Honestly, I have done tons of Menopur and it only stings a little, but maybe I've been lucky that way. The only shot I ever got a welt from was Cetrotide and that was just an itch and annoying.

Try not to be so scared -- you'll see it's not so bad! But what I do is just alcohol swab the area and let dry, pinch a big hunk of belly skin, dart at 90 degrees and inject, release the pinch, hold for needle in there for 5 seconds, quickly pull out the needle, and then cotton ball massage the spot. Then you're done! Sometimes a piece of chocolate after helps. :)

I totally agree. I was on Bravelle and Menopur then just Bravelle. I would ice a little but I don't think it helped much. I mainly just really pinched the fat on my stomach so to create a little pain so I wouldn't focus on the medicine as much. I find that if I inject it fast it burns after or I go slow and it burns during.

Hope you find it easier than you think. GL!

I haven't done Bravelle, but if you breathe through the shot and try to relax it goes so much better.

  • I'm a big ole wuss - I ice. Yep, ice pack or frozen water bottle in the waistband. When I feel nothing after 10 min, then I self inject. Nothing except queasy from the sight of the needle going in and a slightly red frozen belly. And this was from 4 vials of bravlle and 1 vial men.opur. Good luck!
