LP Super long or maybe my OPK's were wrong??

How long can your LP be? Here's my situation: Last month I O'd on CD12 which ended up with a CP on CD 31 which is a typical cycle length for me. This month I got a positive OPK on CD 21 but EWCM on CD 29. I am now on CD 39 with some slight signs of AF showing up but nothing spectacular.

My question is could my LP really be 18 days+? Or maybe I really O'd on CD 29 and my AF isn't late I just O'd later than OPK said. HPT negative and I'm not looking for OMG you're so preggo!! I'm just confused about LP. I only started temping last week to prevent this fiasco from happening again.

Hmmm I thought that usually LPs tended to stay roughly the same from cycle to cycle.  I would go with maybe you O'd later and the OPK just showed you gearing up for O but your body didn't actually follow through.

I agree with this. The OPK doesn't prove that you actually O'd, it just says that your body is preparing to. Good luck, hopefully something happens for you soon! The waiting game is never any fun.

  • My O and LP are different every single cycle.  And not by one or two days, sometimes by five or six days.  I also sometimes get pos OPKs before I actually O.  I think you just have to wait it out this cycle, and temp next cycle to know for sure, as you said.

Also, what another pp said about a wonky cycle after miscarriage.  Sorry you're confused- I would be too!

  • Were your numbers at 0 soon after your loss?  This can cause a +OPK rather than an LH surge.  It's possible to get more than one LH surge, body gears up to O, then doesn't.  Which is where charting BBT comes in handy to confirm O took place.  Since you got fertile CM a week later, I'd say there's a chance you may have O'd then or not at all.  I would test 1x or until AF shows.  If you go 60 days- call your doctor!
