House hunting, it's not as fun as I expected

So we are looking to move, and the area that we (I) want to move to has no inventory that meets our critera.  We looked at one place on Monday and LOVED it, by Monday evening it had 10 offers already.  That is the only house we've looked at, because there are no others.  It stinks!

  • The market is swamped right now w ppl looking. Enjoy summer and look once fall hits. It will slow down with people putting in offers. (at least, that's how it is where I live).

  • Right now is the hardest time to find a house anywhere I think.  Most people try to move during the Summer as to avoid disrupting school schedules/districts.  Hopefully you are able to find something soon that you love!!

We also need to rent out our house and my H suggested we move in with his parents until we find a place, and save more $ to put towards the new house.  I was speechless... I don't think you could pay me to live with my in-laws, and it isn't because of them, it's more because my H's brothers, their wives and all their kids are always over there and as much as I love all the kids, I can only take them in small doses.

It also doesn't help that I am limited to a 2 mile radius, because of my DD's school. I thought about bribbing her to change schools, how horrible is that.  I of course didn't, but it crossed my mind!

  • Nope it isn't lol. It's a bit stressful. Fun to dream about though.

Selling end of it friggin sucks too! My husband, MIL, and I have had 2 houses on the market for...almost a year now and because they are in sucky neighborhoods people won't get them. Every person that has looked said wow the house is so nice but too bad the neighborhood isn't what we want.

To me that is a great excuse not to buy a house. But this is also the same thing I told my MIL and husband before getting them to fix them up. Who knows maybe next time they will listen.
