I despise my State?s CS agency immensely. For a State agency who?s mission statement is "to enhance the well-being of children and the self-sufficiency of families by providing services to locate parents, establish paternity and establish and enforce orders for financial and medical support", they do don?t a whole hell of a lot to "locate" or "enforce". In fact, it seems like they make it extra difficult for CP to try and get any support at all.
My XH is $20k in arrearages and hasn?t provide health insurance ever for the children. Ever. One would think this would be enough for the State to step in and say, "Hhhhmmm, this guy seems like a total deadbeat. We should really do something." Instead, the State gave me a ginormous packet of paperwork to fill out to commence interstate action (XH moved to TN during the divorce) and then promptly sat on it for 3 months. Gee thanks.
During that 3 months I was diligently calling for updates and being told something different every time I called. Then finally in April I was told my interstate action was being closed because I didn?t turn in a Declaration that I was told, by one of the lovely people who answers the phone, to disregard. Um, excuse me?! So the Supervisor made a few notes, I completed the Declaration and overnighted it to the office.
Here we are 4 weeks later and I haven?t heard anything. I call this morning for an update and the caseworker just got the Declaration yesterday. Hang on, I have the proof of delivery saying it was received on April 20th, and they just now received it? What the hell? Apparently it takes 2-3 weeks for the lazy ass in the mailroom to take the paperwork up one flight of stairs to the caseworkers. How wonderful. I?m so glad my tax money is being put to such fantastic use. And now that it has finally been received, it should be sent out within the next 2-3 weeks.
So the process that I started back in December is taking 6 months. In 6 months absolutely nothing has been done. In that 6 months my XH has gotten a new iPhone, a new car, and a new quad. So he has easily shelled out at least $5k on toys since January, and my children haven?t received a penny of support. Thanks CA Child Support Services. Bang up job you?re doing.
End vent.
Re: I hate CS agencies. A super angry vent.
I hate hearing things like this. I hope they get it together this time! I also hope TN will take this seriously when they receive it.
Hugs and best wishes!
I would be just as pissed! so sorry they are so slow, it seems to be the norm with the court/ government systems in general.
hopefully when everything works out you get the money you and your kids are owed.

I'm trying to figure out who to complain to next. I swear it's almost like they purposely make things extra difficult hoping you'll give up. It's like dealing with the DMV.

@Tif: The lovely CS agency doesn't list a fax number on their website (of course) and no one in the call center is "authorized" to disclose it. I already have a call in to the Regional office, and am planning on dropping in tomorrow when I'm off work. This seriously needs resolved.
@Piffle: My XH already only sees the kids 2 weeks out of the year. I have asked him repeatedly to just let my husband adopt the kids because he really wants to. But to XH the kids are basically a "check" on the checklist. He doesn't provide any sort of financial or emotional support to the kids and expresses zero interest in their activities, but he likes being able to say they're "his".
