Cloth Diapering

Stash Critique please?

So I THINK I'm done with my stash for a while. I wanted a large stash so that I could do laundry every third day (two if I have to). I originally wanted a stash of entirely pockets, but then branched out about half way through and got prefolds and fitteds..and AIOs. haha

Newborn Stash-

24 Osocozy size 1s (I've heard these done work well with a newborn because they're rather long so I also bought...)

12 GMD newborn size

7 Thirsties duo size 1

1 Blueberries coverall (OS)

6 Charlie Banana Pockets (Newborn Size)

2 Thirsties Fab Fitteds (for overnight)

Not so Newborn-

6 Thirties duo AIOs size 1

2 Bumgenius 3.0 pockets OS

6 Fuzzibunz Elite OS (3 more OTW. I'd like to work up to about 20 of these)

Other Items-

3 Snappies (do I need more? We're out of the house a LOT..how easily do you lose them?)

2 Planetwise Pail Liners

36 Cloth Wipes

2 8oz Booty Lusters

1 Grovia diaper rash stick

2 Kushies medium wetbags (which are the same as a planet wise small)

1 Planet Wise medium Wetbag

Detergent wise- (to test out and see what I like)

1 tub Charlies Soap

2 bags RockNGreen

Re: Stash Critique please?

  • Our Thirstes covers didn't work until her cord fell off (which thankfully happened early). If you plan on CDing right from birth, I'd return several of them & get more NB friendly covers like Bummis Super Brights or Proraps. The good news is, once her cord came off, DD could wear the Thirsties AIO at only 6lbs.! So even though those are in your "not so newborn" stash, you can get a lot of use out of them early on. I love that diaper, I wish I had more than one.

Oh thats so good to know about the AIOs! I was hoping but wasn't really getting my hopes up about it. I hope they work for our LO early on to, that would help my DH out a ton. haha.

For the first week or so we're going to use spoies while we wait for the cord to come off, so I'm not too worried. There are some Bummis super brites on our registry, so maybe someone will get one for us and I can try it out. =)

  •  It looks like you already have enough to CD full time if you wash every other day. We are also out of the house a lot and 3 snappis were fine for me. I lost one of them right away but two is really enough.

I see that you already decided to branch out a little and that's great. I would wait on buying any more FB though until you get a chance to try them out on your LO. When I was pg and researching CDing, I thought FB were the absolute best way to go and why would anyone want to try different brands once they find one they like? But so many people on this board have suggested buying a mix and I'm so glad I listened to them and only bought 3 to start because while I do like my FB, they're not the first diaper I reach for and there are so many other  brands and different types I want to try. Some people build their stash on one brand or type of diaper and if that works for them, great. I thought I would be like that until I actually started CDing and then realized I love having a variety.
