We've had a terrible time picking out a name for our girl. Nothing really "stands out" or seems perfect. I had picked out Eleanor Ann forever, but now it just doesn't seem to "fit". How do you even go about picking out a name? I've googled and googled and just can't find anything. I want something unpopular and unique but easy to pronounce and spell and something not too "out there". Gah! I'm so ready to decide on a name already. I'm ready to monogram and paint her name in the nursery. DH is no help whatsoever
You might not have a name that "fits" until delivery. You may take a look at her and decide that the name you've loved forever is just perfect, or you may change your mind to something completely different.
You can always monogram and paint after she's actually born and named. It might make it easier that way, anyway.
Naming a child is so difficult! I'm with you on the not popular name and not a name that's completely out there. What I do is I pick 1-4 letters a day, and go through a baby name site. I write down (or type out) names that aren't bad. Then I'll go to the SSA site and see how popular they have been. The ones that still make the list at that point, I run by DH (usually he nixes them all), but I keep the ones I still am okay with. Sometimes they grow on me and if I'm really lucky...they grow on DH also.
With DD, I had Shea on the list for a while. I can't tell you how many times DH nixed it. Finally, one night he turned to me and said, "I really like Shea." Hence out (no so little) Shea Brooke. This time, it's the same deal. One name on my list DH was okay with, but I guess the more we think about it, the more it is growing on us. We both have started falling in love with this name that was just "okay" a few weeks ago.

This.
We had a list of three names we took with us to the hospital. We didn't use any of them. The name we chose was one we had written off a the end of my first trimester. But it just "fit."
We are having a tough time too. I too like unpopular names and it makes it a bit difficult to pick something. I've used Nymbler a lot. You're able to enter in up to six names that you like and it will populate a ton of names based on what you entered. Try it out--you might find something really perfect!
I'm too much of a planner to wait until the baby is born. It's honestly killing me not already having one picked out. We had my son's name picked out before conception. There is one name that really stands out to me for some reason: Rose. I've never thought about it much until seeing the ultrasound, but now I like it. I'm just afraid it's the pregnancy talking and I'll hate it later. I used to love Eleanor Ann for years and now, Eh, I don't like it. Is Rose too old fashioned? And then, there's the trouble with the middle name. Nothing really fits.
Right now my number one option is Anna Rose. I just love how it flows. We'd call her Rose. My first name is Anna, so it seems kind of weird to name my daughter after myself and I'm not sure how that would be accepted by others. But for right now that's what we are going with until something better pops into my head!
I think Eleanor Ann is a beautiful name! Do you think you're feeling that way because you're over-thinking it?? I know with our names (we are team green) I have to remind myself to not obsess, because after you say something over and over again, it starts to sound funny.
I'm not sure. Ella is becoming more of a popular name so I think that has something to do with it. I just remember seeing the ultrasound and thinking Eleanor didn't fit anymore. I immediately thought of Rose and it's funny b/c my mom who went with me did too.

Name her Rosanne?
I know what you mean about names not feeling quite right. With my DD, I was totally sure about her name at 20 weeks. With this baby, I have a #1 choice in my head (and DH agrees with it) but there has been no "Eureka!" moment when I thought I had the perfect name. Mostly, I can't think of any other names that I like any better, so I'm down to the last option!
Oh my goodness, I can't imagine having a name picked out already. Last time we made our decision around 37 weeks, she came at 39 weeks. And we started discussing after our 20-wk A/S. Seriously, take your time. You can do everything in the nursery BUT monogramming well in advance.
I like all the options you've listed so far. I think Eleanor Ann is my favorite. I, too, would be weary of all the Ella's, but you don't have to call her that. I think Nora is a great nickname for Eleanor.
I also think Rose in the first name spot is really refreshing. I had a great Aunt Rose Marie who was awesome, so I'm kind of partial to that combination, though Anna Rose is lovely as well. I also like Rosalie. You could also use Ann in the middle name spot for this one.
Lilianna Rose is pretty as well, though I feel like Lily is getting just as popular as Ella. Also, Rose is such a common middle name right now that it almost feels like a filler. I much prefer it in the first name spot.
Good luck!

Didn't even think about that but I love it!!! And I agree about Lily getting pretty mainstream; still an adorable name though. I do like that both Lilianna and Eleanor offer several dif nn options, which is nice.
If we named her Eleanor, she would always be called Ella. So between Ella and Lily, I def. like Lily better.
It appears I'm into the floral names this time lol.
Also, it's kind of a tradition to use a variation of the name Ann somewhere in the name, that's where Lilianna came from. It's my favorite variation of Ann.
If I had a girl (last time or this time) her name would have been Alicianna. I thought I made it up but apparently it is a real name. But, since I won't ever have a girl (no more babies from me unless something crazy happens) I will tell my favorite name
I also want to say I have NO IDEA on a name for this LO. My last LO DH picked the first name and the middle name we used my Poppy who passed when I was 6 months pg. Then we just nicknamed him JT (Jonathan Thaddeus). I have no idea what to do for the next little guy.....UGH!!
