Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Hi ladies!!

I've been away for forever, raising babies!  I have a nine month old.  All yours are so cute!

How long do your LO spend at daycare?   Mine is there for nine hours, and it seems like such a long time away from us.  Her caregivers dont seem to think anything of it though!

Your LO's mismatched clothes are offensive to me.

Obvs, she was in no condition to dress herself. Let's see you drink a bottle of Jager and still be able to match!

  • Wow.  Just wow.  I didn't realize that you had no senses of humor, and ur kids are always dressed perfectly!  I thought this was a place of support!

Maybe I should have gone to ivillage.

My baby is always dressed in her finest gowns and drinks martinis out of a glass.  Your child is clearly an amateur.

  • Ummmm is there some kind of joke I'm not in on?  You calling your baby an ASS in your sig is OK, but me playing around with my baby with EMPTY BOTTLES is ridiciolous??

And yeah, before you say anything, there were some in back that had stuff in them, but they were out of her reach.

Are you this  miserable in real life??

He knows, but I give a great blow job, so he puts up with me.  She may only be 7 months old, but she is very mature for her age.

That's the majority of the day, so it is a long time away.  The question is, are you ok with that?  Her caregivers are ok with it because you're paying them.

I don't see anything wrong with her siggy pic, honestly. It was meant to be a joke. Just like everyone's badges and other funny images in our siggys.
Now=-- if the baby was actually DRINKING the liquor, that would be a whole different story.

    Take a chill pill, people.

HA! I don't believe infants are capable of screwing off a bottle cap, lifting a heavy bottle then taking a chug.

Even my 4 yr old can't take caps off!

I agree with shellb. Even if those bottles are empty, some of them are glass. Should you really let your child play with them?

  • Is the OP a known troll or are you all really that upset at her siggy? Just curious.

I don't let my kid play with glass, but if she was simply posing a few photos for fun and then going to take them away immediately, I see no issues. Clearly, the mother (or someone) was standing right there snapping the photos. The child was not left alone.

My point: She was trying to make a funny siggy pic, and everyone is jumping down her throat. I don't even know this poster...but I can see she wasn't TRYING to harm her kid.

I think eesome is just saying it's just a picture. If it is not funny to you then so be it but no need for people to bash her on a photo when she was just looking to get a question answered.

Welcome to the Bump. You don't get to control what people comment on when you put a sig pic or information or whatever it is out there on the internet. Unfortunately, this thread - and OP's sig - are getting attention on other boards. I'm surprised there aren't more responses.

I usually stay out of drama, but I think its funny that someone who was so upset about a baby getting a hamburger is cool with a baby playing with glass bottles of alcohol.  Hmm, I would think alcohol would be worse!  Shows what I know.

OP:  DD was in daycare for 10 hours per day from 10 weeks to 10 months.  It wasn't ideal, but I wasn't quite ready to quit my job and stay home.  Now I stay home so DS isn't in daycare and DD goes to preschool for 2.5 hours two days a week.

I just have to throw it out there, they even make glass baby bottles, so I don't think this is a huge difference, glass is glass.  The size may be different, but we are talking about it being glass.  Just my .02

ETA: I don't think it is hilarious but I also don't think it's tasteless, I guess I just don't put much thought into it.  I suppose there are probably lots of things that all of you ladies do that I would not approve of and that door swings both ways.  I am aware that if I post about those things, I am asking for opinions.  The problem is that everyone is so focused on her siggy rather than answering her question (although some people have answered).  I'm just saying that I think it would have been good enough just saying "I don't like your siggy" rather than it's not classy, it's tasteless, and even making the point to bash her LO's clothing.  Not very nice in my opinion.

Yes they have glass baby bottles but do you put them all in a pile on the floor and let your child play with them? I understand what you are saying but I think that the OP should have just not put those pictures in her siggy. She should have known better.

While that's true, being on the internet, rather than face to face, doesn't give people the right to say shiit they wouldn't say to someone IRL. If you wouldn't say something dickish IRL about it, then you shouldn't say it here. Otherwise, you're a hypocrite.

And about the siggy, I don't find it particularly hilarious but I see nothing wrong with it. There was someone right there and it's not like they left the baby in a pile of glass bottles to play with by themselves. It may not be the classiest of photos, in some people's opinions, but there's nothing inherently unsafe about it. For all those that said it is dangerous, I'm sure that none of you have ever used bumpers, or blankets, or glass baby bottles, and that your homes are baby proofed top to bottom, including the little latch things for the toilet seats, because you just never know when they could crawl/walk over to the toilet, lift the seat, dive in head first and drown. Confused

  • I didn't do daycare at that age, but I think around 9 hours would be the norm considering most work 8 hours a day and taking into account commuting time.

If you feel that's too long, can you change the situation, whether cutting back hours or you (or DH) adjust your hours a bit so someone drops off later and/or picks up earlier? If not, I don't see why you should dwell on it if you can't change the situation.

Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • My ladybug is with her nanny from 7:00 to 3:30.  It would be longer if it was just me as DH leaves at 7 while I am out the door at 5:50.   I get home at 3:30 and DH doesn't get home till 4:30.

Do what works for you.  If you don't like how long she is at daycare, change it.

In regards to your siggy- meh if you like it fine.  If you dont, fine.  You will face snark wherever you go and as a parent you will face many differing opinions on what you should do with your child.  Great thing is it is your child and you get to make those decisions.

  • Your siggy is one of the most disturbing I have seen on TB in the 4 years I have been on here. Your catchy little "starting her off right" is not cute or funny. AT ALL.

Grow up and be a parent.. you don't let your baby play with liquor bottles, you don't take pics of it and you certainly don't post them all over the Internet unless you want CPS to show up at your front door.

My children spend 0 hours at daycare and 0 hours playing with liquor bottles.
