Maybe it's because this is my first baby and I am being too picky. As a kid, and then as a teenager, I used ti have dream names. Now they have become trendy. I hate trendy names. I like old-fashioned names, but hate that they have become trendy. I hate boring names. I hate weird names. I basically hate all names. I am considering naming this LO Thing 1.
There is actually only one name I like and it is a girl's name (and quickly becoming trendy, please no!). DH is not completely won over to it yet, but I think he likes it. If this LO is not a girl, we may be in trouble...
Re: I Hate All Names
I KWYM. I found boy's names very easy just because I like a lot of classic surnames and strong names that are cute as boys and aristocratic almost with men. However, girls names I found really difficult.
I know Hudson has become trendy now but we know no other Hudson's IRL so it's wonderfully original for us!
Girls names though are so hard. I can't stand really classic names like Caroline but then I hate younique names like Kayleigh (I guess that's more of an original name with a you-neeque spelling).
So I'm with you! We only have a list because it's taken us two years to form one...since DS was born.
I'm having a similar problem. My husband and I have 8 children combined and were told we couldn't get pregnant again, 2 years ago... for 2 years, nothing... then on April fools day I got a positive test and surprise, we're expecting! Our 'baby' is 7, will be 8 just 2 wks after this one is due.
So, we have two girls with K names, two girls with S names, two boys with A names and then one M and one N.
My husband seems determined to continue the trend and says we have to come up with an M or N name for this little one. He's already pretty much decided if its a boy it will be Marshall. But I can't really find any girl names that I am just in love with that are M or N.
I am considering Noelle, Nicole, Megan, and I love Maylea (pronounced maylee) but he doesn't like that one at all. There was one that was hawaiian that my husband really likes, I can't remember it right now, but he was born there and lived in Hawaii most of his young life so he loves the name. I think its too close to his sisters name Naniloha and his other sister is Melelani... oh, yeah, my husbands name, not Hawaiian at all... Chase! ROFL
anyway, I want this baby to be a girl, we have four of each and we need a tie breaker in the girls favor.. plus three of our girls are from his first marriage and the other girl was my first baby, she's nearly 17 yrs old. its been a LONG time since I had a baby girl! but, I don't know what we'll call her if it IS a girl.
I can't believe we still have to wait 2 months to find out the gender... argh!
Yeah, I think we will end up going classic as well. BTW, I love the name Jack, so good job.
I understand what you mean. Growing up, I loved the names Grayson and Carter. My grandparents had an elderly neighbor named Grayson and he was such a nice and cheerful person. Now it's super trendy. I liked Carter b/c I really like Egyptian history and Howard Carter is the person who found King Tut's tomb, so it had a special meaning to me. Now I know at least three babies with this name. DH and I meant through scouting, so we wanted to use Baden as a MN for a boy b/c the founder of scouting is Lord Baden-Powell. Yup, that's out now too. I don't want our child lumped into the made up "den" names.
ETA: typo
It's really hard! DH and I have had a boy name we like for quite awhile, and thankfully nobody in our town has used it. We're keeping it top secret so we can use it one day!
But as far as girl names...nothing sounds appealing. I might just wait until our anatomy scan to find out if I even need to spend the time searching girl names...
