Update: First Appt & U/S- Now talk me down!

Hello! DH and I had our first appointment this afternoon. According to my LMP, I should be in the early 7 week range. BUT, the U/S showed only a gestational sac and the dr says that I'm about 5.5 weeks. If you remember from my intro (and you probably don't), DH and I were in our third cycle of clomid and based on the follicle studies, they weren't expecting me to have ovulated this cycle. So, it is entirely plausible, if not probable, that I O'd later and everything is fine. I was thinking already that I was more like 6.5 weeks right now, so this is only really 1 week off. I haven't had spotting and my symptoms are only getting worse (hello all-day sickness!) so, I know its entirely possible that we are just off. But, I also am semi-worried that this could be a missed miscarriage.  The current plan is to wait 2 weeks for a repeat ultrasound. The doctor fully expected to see a heartbeat at that point and is not worried at all. He didn't check HCG levels again because he is not worried. I feel like we are traveling back in time, at the very least. The only thing to do now is relax and take care of myself and think positive thoughts. Maybe I'll be a January 2013 momma?

If your doctor is not concerned, I wouldn't be either at this point.

All you can do is wait, trust in your doctor and your body.  It not only sucks to now lose 2 weeks, but I'm sure it will be agony to wait another 2 weeks to find out if this will go in a positive direction.  Do what you can to keep yourself busy!

Without any confirmed ovulation, I am sure your doctor is right!

This happened to me and I had to wait 3 weeks, I was only about 4 weeks along...now, I go tomorrow for an u/s. It was hard to wait but 3 weeks passed by for me so quickly. I can sort of understand how you feel and I know it is a little nerve wracking but hang in there and believe everything is alright, it sounds like it is to me... T&P for you!!!

As long as your doctor isn't worried, I would try not to stress.  You could have O'd late, like you said, which would make sense why there's just a gestational sac now.  I'll be thinking of you and hoping the next few weeks fly by for you!!

Definitely. I'm really busy right now at work with the end of the school year, so that'll help!

This is pretty much the exact same thing that happened to me last week.  I went on Friday and should have been about 8 weeks, but I only measured 6 1/2.  I have long cycles, so I was anticipating being around 7 weeks.  I am now in the 2 week wait for my follow up next Friday.  It is hard, not only to wait, but also to move backwards!  Like you, I haven't had any spotting either and lots of m/s, so I am hopeful that everything will be fine when I get to see my little one again.  I'm just trying to take heart in the fact that they told me everything looked good for the 6 1/2 weeks I measured and I got to see the heartbeat.  Sending you good thoughts for a good follow up appointment!

I'll be sending good thoughts your way! I'm guessing you're fine, though. When I had my first u/s because of bleeding I was expected to be 7w based on LMP and was only 5w. A week and a bit later (6w3d) we saw the heartbeat and everything looked great. I have long and irregular cycles. It happens. Try not to stress until you know you have a reason to!
