When I was pregnant the first time I really wanted a boy (of course, I really wanted a healthy baby above all). I never even entertained the thought of having a girl. I just really wanted a boy, and I KNEW it would be.
I have always said I wanted all boys. Teenage girls are idiots, and I didn't want to deal with it. I think I'm changing my mind. I want a girl. I want the mother-daughter bond. I think about what a JERK of a teenager I could be. I know I'll have to get through that with my own daughter. I also know, that on the other side is a really great adult relationship. I want that.
Anyone else hoping for one or the other? What is your reason?

Teenage boys are idiots too....my brother sure gave my parents a run for their money:) I think he caused more headaches and worry than all the girls in my family combined. I think the teenage years will be rough no matter the gender.
I see the joys in having either one. My DH thinks it's going to be a girl but I think inside he secretly wants a little boy.

i REALLY want a girl. mainly b/c my whole family is girls, and i wouldn't have a clue how to raise a boy. of course, a healthy baby is what we're really after, so we'll be overjoyed with either one.
but i do really want a girl, which is why we plan on finding out the sex ahead of time, so if its a boy i can get used to the idea (and read a lot of books about parenting boys!) until he arrives.
As everyone else said, I will be thrilled as long as I have a healthy baby. If I could choose though, I'd love to have a girl first. Always pictured myself as having a girl first for some reason. I guess it's because both DH and I come from families that went girl, boy, girl. We'd love a distribution like that. I guess we'll see!
