Personal decision but I say yes go for it once you start pumping. Just pump or feed baby before you have a drink then be sure to wait 1-2 hours per drink you have.
Some. If you go overboard, you may need to pump and dump.
Apparently you can leave the milk out and open and some of the alcohol will escape or something, but they also sell testing strips (I got mine at Target) that will test the alcohol content of your breast milk.

This - I got this for my sister as a friendly joke, she's used them.
Yep, just don't get all sloshy. Some drink right after LO feeds and some drink DURING a feeding b/c it takes about an hour to get into the bloodstream/BM anyway. Not sure how I feel about that, but I will certainly be partaking in wine.
I really couldn't at first because even one glass made me really tipsy! I did on a few special occasions, but otherwise it was too much for me to handle with a newborn.
Once DD was STTN (or could more reliably go 3 hours between feedings), I would have a glass after she went to bed at least a few times a week. : )
Yes. Your BAC is the same as the alcohol content of your milk. There's great info on this in Dr. Newman's breastfeeding book. (Sorry, can't remember the title, but I know his name is Jack Newman.)
I've heard that if you're sober enough to drive, you're sober enough to BF. So I plan to have a glass or two from time to time.
I can't believe someone actually said this. It doesn't matter how much you drink, you shouldn't get behind the wheel.
Having ONE glass of wine over the course of an entire evening by no means is "unsafe" to drive. Let's be serious, here. If I'm at a party or dinner celebration and have a glass of wine with dinner- then 2 or so hours after I'm done, I drive home.... my BAC is wayyyy under the legal limit.
Obviously, I'm not stupid- if I feel even the slightest bit tipsy I wouldn't drive (or BF my LO)... but having one drink and waiting a few hours should be fine.
ETA: when I was BFing DS... I would maybe have a small glass of wine every once in a while, and I'd have it as soon as I was done BFing- and the next feeding wouldn't be for another 3 hours. The few times I went out with DH and drank a bit more than that, I would give DS a bottle of pumped milk from the fridge/freezer and "pump/dump" that feeding

Agreed.
I'm not saying you should go out, get wasted, and then breastfeed while driving.

That's where we differ then. I don't even have one drink and drive. I don't care what my blood alcohol may be. One drink is enough to impair my judgement.

Not everyone's judgement is impaired by one glass of wine or one beer. However, I don't agree with the statement in terms of BFing. As I said in my post above, I'll only have 1-2 glasses of wine.

Okay, well, then, you're saying two different things. "Nobody should drink any alcohol and drive, ever" is a very different (and much more judgey) statement from "I know my tolerance levels and I will personally not drive after drinking any alcohol whatsoever."

The amount of alcohol that gets transferred to BM is a very small amount. If you're worried, you can get these strips at any drugstore where you spurt a bit of BM on it and it will tell you if you're good to nurse.
The general rule is that is you're sober enough to drive, then whatever milk comes out at that moment is good to drink. You don't need to pump and dump.
Go to kellymom.com. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about food, alcohol, caffeine , etc while you are bfing. You can actually live a very normal life and BF.

Holy lightweight.
In order for me to feel anything, I need at least two drinks within an hour on an empty stomach.

I'd feel weird chugging a beer while breast feeding. I am clearly a prude.
I drank a few times while BFing. There is nothing weird about winding down after a long day while lounging on the couch, BFing and sipping a nice cold Hef or glass of wine. You may feel differently after you've had your baby. BFing can be a very relaxing and calming thing, especially at the end of the day. Add a glass of wine and it's like Heaven.
Also, I never pumped and dumped because I never had more than 1-2 glasses of wine or beer. I couldn't bare the thought of throwing out my precious BM!!!

This. My friend who is a doula also says "Never pump and dump". If you come home and you're drunk and can wait to nurse until you are sober, wait. If you are drunk, your milk is drunk. Once you are sober, the milk that you didnt "dump" is not still drunk. Does that make sense? Haha. Hopefully I said it right!

I don't weigh 90lbs either but I start to get really buzzed after 1/2 a drink [beer]. I just hardly drink so my tolerance is super low. At least I'm a cheap date haha ;-)

If the answer was no I don't know if I would have nursed for over 13 months.
I didn't drink a lot, maybe once a month or so, and I'd have a small glass of wine. I would have it right after I nursed DD.
Like PP, yes, after you nurse/pump you can have some.
