blighted ovum...

so i went in for a 10 week ultrasound today. my husband kept trying to make me smile, but all i could see was a black circle with nothing inside and the tech wouldn't talk.

the doctor came in and said it was a blighted ovum, meaning i have a placenta, but no baby. I have a d&c tomorrow.

I wish you all the best of luck through the rest of your pregnancies and i will always remember all the help and support you gave me.

    I am so so sorry.  I do want to let you know that this is very common and I had the same thing in February.  I had the D&C and I got pregnant the first cycle after the D&C.

    I am so sorry! I had a blighted ovum in January, I was devastated but DH kept telling me that it was my body knowing something was wrong. Please take your time on healing and mourn as long as you need to. I still find myself thinking about the baby.

    I"m so sorry for your loss.  For what it's worth, my d&c was physically very easy but all losses are hard mentally.  Take time to grieve and take care of yourself.

    Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

    Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

    Same as previous poster. Blighted ovum that passed naturally in February. This sucks and I am terribly sorry you are going through it. There is hope at the end of this though for a rainbow baby. I hope your recovery is swift.  T&P your way.
