I know in this day and age, any boy name has the "potential" to be a girl name. We're having a boy and I'm having a really hard time with names because I want a boy name that will not become a trendy girl name.
Any ideas? All we've come up with are Henry and Benjamin. I'm not sure I like either.
Re: Boy names that will stay boy names?
Yeah, ditto the super classics. William, Henry, Benjamin, Lucas, John, Thomas....
I totally hear where you're coming from. I've seen a girl on these boards with DS's name (Anderson) and it made me all . Ick.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it so much. Just because some crazy parents think it's 'cute' to give a girl a boy's name, doesn't make those names girl names or even unisex names. I'd stick with the classics, but there's no guarantee some crazy out there doesn't think Richard and George would be ADORABLE on a little girl.
Case in point, I looked up Benjamin on the Beyond the Top 1000 list for 2010 and there were something like 20 female Benjamins born that year. A while ago someone posted about meeting a girl named Henry, too. I hate this trend and hope it dies a quick death.

DH, a Kyle, works with a female Kyle...gross.
Classics for sure!
I have met about 4 girls named Scott, and about 20 girls named Kyle.
You clearly don't watch Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

There is a little girl named Jaye in my son's preschool, and I have also heard of girls named Kyle, Scott and James -- you really can't escape it, so just go with a name you love.
Agreed. A lot of older-sounding names should be safe, I think, like Oscar, Sigmund, etc.
Yeah, I honestly have no idea which boy names are safe at this point. Never would I have thought that someone - much less two celebrities - would think that Maxwell was a great name for a girl.
I know what you mean. We chose Clifton and we think it will remain a boys only name.
...seeing some of the new names for girls on this board shocks me though...
I used to work with a female Kyle...
