DH and I have been struggling to come up with a boy name.  We may not even need it, but I would like to be prepared.  Part of the problem we're running into is we don't like (or rather DH doesn't like) any of our family names and we'd really like to use family names since we did that for DS.  

DH's grandmother passed away on Friday and I was hoping maybe you all would have some ideas on how to come up with a first name from her name.  Her name was Ellen Victoria.  Victor is out, I just don't like it.  Anyone have any other ideas?  The MN would be Robert after DH's grandfather.

If it helps, DS is Stephen Charles and our girl name is Clara Lauren or Victoria.

    Can you look up the meaning of Ellen and find a comparable boy's name?  Or what about Alan/Allen/Allan?

    Thanks for the help.  I did look up the meaning of Ellen, but couldn't really find any boy names that I liked.

    Eli is on our list and I thought that might work.  I just hate boy names.  I kind of like Ellis, too.

    E names, maybe something with El to honor Ellen: Eric, Elias, Ellison, Edward, Elijah, Elliott, Ethan, Evan, Everett, Ezra, Ewan

    V names to honor Victoria: Vaughn, Vance, Vincent

    Names with similar meanings to Victor (victor, obviously): Nicholas (victory of the people), Meyer (leader). Or you could think of words that describe her and find names wth a similar meaning

    Names with similar meaning to Ellen (torch - I also searched light, possibly moon): Lucius. Also, from light, I thought of "bright" and that opens you up to -bert names: Robert, Gilbert
