December 2012 Moms

Oh man...

I just realized my girl name rhymes.  I can't do that, can I?

Annabelle Lynn ___son

I was already not a huge fan of the way the "belle" and the "Lynn" ran together, but Lynn is my mom's middle name.  So now Lynn and the "son" part rhyme, because we say it like "sin" insted of "son".  GRRRRRR!

  • LOL aw. I personally dislike rhyming names, it drives me crazy!

  • I should add, that it's just a middle name.. so it's not that big of a deal.

  • I don't think it's too rhyme-y because it is the middle name and won't be said fully very often. My son's name has a "sing-song" sound to it, Samson hmm-hmm-mann, no one has commented on it and I don't think anyone would notice.

That's true.  Hopefully she's not really bad so I don't have to constantly say her full name.  I also don't know if it's going to be a girl (clearly) so maybe I should calm down :-)

I agree with what everyone else said. No one really calls you by your middle name (unless you live here in the south, which in that case a lot of people go by their middle names). I wouldn't worry about it though!!

Thank you for saying that!  I love this name, and I don't want to change it :-)

  • My first name rhymed somewhat with my maiden last name and no one ever said a thing and I personally didn't really even think about it until I was a teenager. Then it bugged me but when I pointed it out to people they thought I was silly.

That said, if it's the middle name, I definitely don't think it's a big deal. Also, I think the fact that you have had this name in mind and JUST realized that it rhymes is a sign that it's not that noticeable and therefore not a big deal. I say use it if you love it! If your baby is a girl, of course ;)

    I LOL'd at this.

My name rhymes, but I didn't notice until I read this post and said my name to myself.  Probably not a big deal then.

Personally it doesn't seem like it'll be a problem, but if it bugs you, it bugs you. Just doesn't sound bad to me!

DH thought that the name we picked out for if it's a boy sounded like "raisin bran"... but I couldn't see it even after he told me. Sometimes people just have weird little quirks?
