Re: no hb should i be worried ??

  • Did they not see it on the ultrasound or not hear it on the doppler?

  • I don't want to worry you, but most people can hear/see the heartbeat by the time they are to 7 weeks.  It usually starts to beat around 6 weeks.  Having said that, are you sure on your dates, were you charting and you know your exact ovulation date or are you going off your LMP and possibly ovulated later?  Obviously, I wouldn't get too worried yet and just take it one day at a time. Will they do another ultrasound on Wednesday when you go back in?

Also, was there a sac, fetal pole, any type of development and just not a heartbeat yet?  You might not be as far along as you think.  Thinking of you!

I was wondering the same. I think 7 weeks is early to hear on doppler but its not too early to see on u/s.

Yes, I change my answer if they were trying by the doppler.  I just assumed it was with the u/s but if it was doppler you can't normally hear that until about 9 or 10 weeks and sometimes even later.

  • Then you should definitely NOT worry at all.  Doppler takes longer to hear it on.  At least 9-10 weeks and sometimes later.

  • Totally normal to not hear it by now.

I have a tilted uterus, so while they can see it on u/s, I rarely hear it in my doctor's office until 12 weeks.  I can get it at home by 8-9 weeks with the right placement of pillows under my hips lol.

You can drink water to help push your uterus, and the baby, closer to the surface :)

That's completely normal. When you have read people here say that they have heard the heartbeat and it was that early on it was through the ultrasound. I also just recently learned that it is just the ultrasound machine simulating the sound of the heartbeat based on the beat per minute and not the actual sound of the babies heartbeat.

  • With DS2 we couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler until after 16 weeks.  I wouldn't worry about not hearing it with the Doppler at 7 weeks.

I agree with this.  With my 1st DS, they were even unable to detect a heartbeat with the doppler at 11 weeks.  Dopplers are tricky, because if the baby is sitting in the back of the uterus, its very hard to pick up a heartbeat.  I think if they saw it on ultrasound that is a good sign.  Sending positive vibes to you for a great appointment on wednesday.

  • with DD we saw her hb on u/s at around 6weeks but we couldn't hear it on the doppler until way after 11 weeks.

This time when I went to my let appointment I told them to not even try the doppler bc it would just make me nervous when they couldn't find it.

sometimes I wonder why they even try knowing its very rare to hear it that early and it just makes the mother nervous.

When I went in for my appointment at 7w2d, we saw the heartbeat but they said it was too early to hear it.

As long as you saw it, all is good!

  • If they used doppler, I would not be worried at all.  I'm 9 weeks and they couldn't hear anything yet.  I think an ultrasound is a different story.  I have an ultrasound in 2 hours so here's hoping.  But I would just try to relax until your ultrasound comes - think of the doppler trying to find a 7 week heartbeat as like trying to thread a needle on a caffeine high.

This is the imperative part, I have seen my LOs heartbeat twice and the bmp were measured by cardiac flicker on the screen. Still have yet to hear anything yet.
